Stephen Harper represents the worst of Canada. Always has always will...
NEW: Stephen Harper lauds genocidal war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu as “probably the smartest, best-read, most-articulate foreign leader I have met” in his newly published memoir. He also admits that he never really opposed Israel’s illegal occupation of the Golan Heights, despite that being his government’s official policy. readthemaple.com/stephen-har…

🔹Socialist wins Providence, Rhode Island, mayoral race; city votes to divest from Israel: State representative David Morales, a 28-year-old member of the Democratic Socialists of America, was elected mayor of Providence, Rhode Island, easily defeating his Republican opponent, Dave Talan. Separately, Providence voters approved a referendum on divesting from “countries and companies committing genocide.” The group that organized the referendum, Providence for Palestine, said that the language of the item was a reference to Israel. At least 75 percent of voters supported the measure.
With great power comes great responsibility. Thank you Providence!

Notice that Schumer is pushing off a commitment to end the war until NEXT YEAR. But @VanHollenForMD and @RoKhanna are calling on Democrats to block the funding that comes with the continuing resolution on December 11th.
CNN: Schumer vows to end Iran war and investigate Trump when Democrats control Congress Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer vowed Democrats will end the war in Iran through the “power of the purse” next year when they take control of the Senate. “We are going to end the war. We’ve got some Republicans who have joined us in ending the war and the Founding Fathers had the power of the purse as one of the ways of deterring a president who does war without the consent of the American people,” Schumer said at a Capitol Hill news conference, a day after Democrats won the majority in the chamber.

If you're feeling even the tiniest bit of hope today, listen to this from @GretaThunberg. I always feel inspired listening to Greta speak. She's got a very rare power of being able to use words to catalyse feeling into action, even when we don't necessarily have all the answers. Such a natural and motivating speaker. Very grateful to her for joining us on the podcast with @ZackPolanski, which you can listen to here: podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcas…

A new @CBC Ombud review of an article by @cbcchrisbrown dissuades political analysts from critiques that might be perceived as "singling out Israel for blame." This sets a chilling precedent that severely restricts fair and fact-based commentary on Israel. Read our letter of concern:

However child-and-mom-slaughtering Israeli genocide soldiers are wholeheartedly welcome as athletes, speakers, heck as Canadian school teachers, he added, probably. Canadian values sth sth. Middle power take the sign out of the window sth sth. Master hypocrite extraordinaire.
Mark Carney: "Russia and Belarus are supporting this illegal and unjustified horrific war in Ukraine, as long as that's going on, there will be none of those athletes competing for their countries in Canada. So if you're asking specifically about the World Juniors, the Russians will not be there."

The Green Party’s Zionism is Racism motion has unleashed a political storm in Britain and prompted fierce attacks on those behind it. But the motion and the backlash are not happening in isolation. From a changing political mood in the US to the growing electoral strength of Palestine solidarity, from the crisis within Labour to the battle for the future of the Green Party, we're witnessing a much wider political shift in the West. On this episode of Palestine Deep Dive, we're joined by two members of Greens for Palestine who have found themselves at the centre of one of the most explosive political debates in Britain following the adoption of the motion to unpack these developments. Lubna Speitan is a Palestinian activist, artist and community organiser, and lead proposer of the motion. Kieran Andrieu is a British-Palestinian political commentator, author and doctor of political economy. @LSpeitan | @kieran_andrieu | @HalaHanina | @AlnaouqA

Israeli media in panic over Democratic midterm sweep, warns against ignoring growing anti-war shift in Washington —— The Israeli press reacted with shock on Wednesday following the sweeping Democratic victory in the US midterm elections, sounding widespread alarms over the long-term strategic consequences for Tel Aviv as critics of Israeli policy gain significant power in Congress. In an analysis published this morning, Haaretz highlighted progressive candidate Abdul el-Sayed’s victory over pro-Israel candidate Mike Rogers, noting the outcome proved that "even strident opposition to Israel is no barrier to winning competitive federal races." The report emphasized that Sayed secured his Senate seat despite the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) sinking over $30 million into the Democratic primary and spending another $9 million on Rogers' behalf during the general election. Simultaneously, The Jerusalem Post warned that the collapse of Republican majorities threatens to permanently alter the strategic relationship between Washington and Tel Aviv. "The implications of the US midterm elections for Israel could extend far beyond the loss of Republican control of Congress," the paper observed, identifying the US-Israeli war on Iran launched on 28 February as the primary catalyst for Republican electoral losses. Concluding its assessment, The Jerusalem Post cautioned Israeli leadership that "the expansion of the camp critical of Israel, and its growing access to positions of influence, represents a shift that Israel cannot afford to ignore."
