I would've given this book 5 stars based on the cover art alone (the dame, the car, the manor, the wind; It's all there) But turns out the story too is an absolute banger. A contender for my favourite read this year.

When it came out in the late 2000s I was a teenager. A show about the lives of employees of a 60s US ad agency should absolutely never appeal to me, not one bit. Yet it did. The genius lies therein.

تعامل الطلاب مع الأمن بالجامعة مؤسف. يومياً أشوفهم يتجادلون معهم ويرفعون الصوت عند مواقف الكليات والرجل واقف بالشموس وبعضهم بأعمار أباء الطلاب. ماهي مشكلته أنك متأخر على محاضرتك ولا هو اللي صمم المواقف وخصصها تقوم تنافخ عليه غصب تدخل يا محور الكون.

Being sociable is great. I hailed a taxi and he was sure the trip will cost me 80ish or more. By the time we were at my front door, the meter did indeed say 80 yet he refused to take anything more than 30, despite my best efforts to pay him more. We're friends now.

Started teaching at STEM colleges and it's like moving into the Ritz compared to the humanities. They gave me an auditorium with a working sound system and a gigantic projector. I'm never going back.
