Neurotorium Clinical Education Grants 2025/26 | Project Spotlight
Neurotorium is proud to support “Bridging the Gap: Neurology Training for Non-Specialists”, a new initiative in Malawi strengthening frontline capacity to recognise and manage common neurological disorders.
In Malawi, with a population of 20 million people, there are only two neurologists. These resource limitations ultimately result in conditions such as stroke, epilepsy, and Parkinson’s disease often being missed or treated too late.
Anchored at Kamuzu University of Health Sciences, the project will train 40–50 frontline doctors/clinicians to become neurology leads in their hospitals through a blended programme: self-paced online learning, monthly live teaching, hands-on workshops, and ongoing case conferences, as well as peer support to streamline referrals and discuss complex cases.
Led by Dr. Yohane Gadama (@YGadama) with mentorship from Prof. Deanna Saylor (@DeannaSaylor1), the initiative aims to strengthen diagnosis, management, and referral pathways - improving care in the near term while building improvements to the future neurological capacity of Malawi. The project runs 2026–2027.

Today, after obtaining ethical approval, I presented my study to the division of neurology. In the moment of setting up the presentation and projection, memories of my registrar/residency time hit me. Those moments of being grilled.
Thankful that those days are past!

Patients are diagnosed late because the pathway to care is fragmented, expensive, and hard to navigate.
On #WorldCancerDay, I'm calling for #cancercare designed around people, not facilities.

Every woman’s breast cancer journey is unique, but too many women still face the same barriers to early diagnosis.
On #WorldCancerDay2026, I reflect on awareness, action, and people-centred care in this blog 👇🏾

Today is World Cancer Day!
#IamAPHRC advocates for a future where every person matters more than their diagnosis.
Behind every statistic is a story. Behind every treatment plan is a human being with dreams, fears, and loved ones by their side. Cancer touches lives in countless ways, but one truth remains: we must see the person before the patient.
Together, we can build a world where cancer care goes beyond medicine. Where compassion, dignity, and individual needs shape every decision. Where communities rally around those affected. Where no one faces this journey alone.

The Amazon Statue, Benin 🇧🇯 stands as a powerful tribute to the women warriors of the Dahomey Kingdom. These women were real warriors whose courage, discipline, and loyalty shaped the history of Africa long before colonial borders existed.

As we speak, there is a male loneliness epidemic because men can’t stop crying about feminism instead of working on themselves to be better. It’s epic.

I have a microscope & a DPhil in biology. If you provide a sperm sample, I’m happy to let you know how many defective little swimmers you are producing.😊
I hope Chelsea leaves Selling Sunset so I never have to watch that show again.
In fact I’ll never watch it again.

Raising awareness about the GBVF disaster in South Africa, led by the Women for change organisation. Over 5k women were murdered last year, almost 68k girls were impregnated whilst in school, almost 2k of those girls are 10-14 years old… laws are weak, survivors aren’t supported
