What’s happening in NZ. Took friend to the Dr she was paying with cash. The receptionist told her the price had gone up $8. She only had $27.50. They said it couldn’t be short. I hadn’t got 50cents. Someone nearby gave it to her. Is this what we’ve become in our health service?

Disability Pride Month — Day 7
Your worth has never been measured by your productivity.
Not by how much you can lift.
Not by how long you can stand.
Not by the number of hours you can work.
Not by how “normal” you appear to others.
You do not have to earn your humanity.
Living with a disability often means adapting to a world that wasn’t designed with you in mind. That takes resilience, creativity, courage, and strength that many people never have to recognize.
Your existence is not a burden.
Your accommodations are not inconveniences.
Your voice deserves to be heard.
Your life deserves to be celebrated.
Today, honor yourself—not because you’ve overcome your disability, but because you’ve continued to show up in a world that doesn’t always make room for you.
To everyone living with a disability:
I see you.
I honor you.
I celebrate you.
And I hope you never forget that you have always been enough.

While there are still activities taking place to mark the 15th Global #Accessibility Awareness Day #gaad, save the date for next year‘s GAAD, which will be on Thursday, May 20, 2027. #a11y
Supposed to still be summer more or less, but rain and wind and only nine degrees! Winter is upon us after no summer! #climatechange .
Fonts are not trivial @Mediawatchnz. Calibri is much more readable than Times New Roman, especially online.

To do #artsaccess well respectfully engage with your audience, be as consistent and professional as with anything else, and understand that accessibility is part of the creative process, not grace and favour. Policy and leadership matter. Include it in regular marketing.

Call me a cynic but disabled women don't get much support here.
At the #UNGA High-Level Week opening, world leaders affirmed: women’s rights are a unifying force!
109 governments pledged 212 actions for the #Beijing30 Action Agenda — moving beyond words to commitments #ForAllWomenAndGirls.

It annoys me so much rhat @rnz_news insists on talking about carers and families, as if no disabled adults have agency or control, or organizations that represent our voices and views.

A very sad loss. Allan wrote some of the best books about cats that have ever been written and I suspect most of my UK followers have enjoyed at least one of his works
