Obsolete #ControlSystems can lead to increased maintenance costs, downtime & energy waste. Cyber attacks are a risk on unsupported systems. #RepairDontWaste works for some, but maintaining obsolescence long term can far exceed upgrade costs.

Biggest issue when hardware fails/original HMI is damaged and replacement is needed. We get called to users who have no plan in place or don’t realise they have a problem. Add in IIoT safeguards, passwords & user credentials, which can also be unknown, and it can be a challenge.
You make a great point @macdonaldncode, it needs consideration for sure. Software should be included in the docs handover at the end of every project, or following any updates, so a backup copy is safely secured. Not all devs or suppliers prioritise this and problems can occur.
Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs) reliably Control and Monitor Industrial #Automation & Machinery. They contain bespoke software that's been designed for that specific application - sometimes the only working version of the software in the entire world 👊
