Based on our investigation to date, there is no indication that MetaMask wallets or customer funds have been affected.

🚨Yesterday I posted about the sudden increase we’re seeing in IRS Letter 6174 notices being sent to crypto traders.
Today, there’s more.
We’ve now had another 3 clients come to us with CP2000 and CP2501 notices.
These are different from Letter 6174.
A CP2501 is sent when information reported to the IRS by a third party doesn’t match what was reported on your tax return. A CP2000 goes further and proposes changes to your return based on that discrepancy. Neither notice automatically means the IRS is correct.
For crypto traders, this matters because exchange reporting, missing cost basis, 1099 data and transaction mismatches can make the numbers the IRS sees look very different from your actual taxable gain.
So within a very short period, we’ve now seen:
• 5 clients with Letter 6174 notices.
• 3 more clients with CP2000 / CP2501 notices.
That level of activity has our attention.
If you receive one of these letters, do not ignore it and do not assume the amount the IRS is proposing is correct. CP2000 and CP2501 notices have response deadlines and need to be handled properly.
Upload your IRS letter to us before responding. We’ll review what the IRS is actually asking for and help you understand your next step.

BREAKING: Chinese illicit actors laundering funds from the $387M Bitget exploit on behalf of the alleged DPRK attackers are openly asking for support with orders in public Discord servers and Telegram channels of services they use.
Notably, Alias 4 (below) was also seen laundering funds from the Kelp DAO $292M exploit earlier this year.
I've observed the same pattern after multiple TraderTraitor attributed exploits, and I've closely tracked these groups. I plan to share more of my data on them in coming weeks.
Currently, funds are being chain-hopped via bridges and being deposited into mixing services such as Wasabi.
