For the first time in years, I have published #NYR prospect rankings. Take a look at my top-20 list, with in-depth scouting reports and a few comments from NHL Scouts.

The underlying metrics for Lafrenière were buzzing and supporters insisted he would blossom if he a coach who put him in a position to shine, which Sullivan has.
I am a believer in Laba's abilities but his underlyings are absolutely brutal.
It’s funny that the same folks who consistently noted Alexis Lafrenière needed time, which he did, have the audacity to crucify Noah Laba after 88 NHL games.
Certainly makes a lot of sense. #NYR
Like, this was 3.5 years ago when Lafrenière was 20. The signs were always there that he was primed to explode if he was just given a chance in a decent environment.

One of the cool things about Adam Fox is that you can state very basic, obvious facts about how good he is and this counts as insight because the hockey world has gaslit itself into thinking otherwise.
There have been plenty of ripe opportunities to knock JT Miller in his second stint with the team but he's been one of their best players during this slump. His line has been one of the few reliable drivers even as his linemates have changed.
The Rangers using up a contract slot in order to give Dylan Garand one period of rest. That's efficiency.
Great quote
Rutger McGroarty with an insightful take on the “get to the net” cliché and why timing matters more than simply going to the net:
“I think overall, a lot of people just say, like, ‘Get to the net, get to the net, get to the net.’ But just going to the net, a lot of the time, is just kind of a dumb play, and that's what a lot of people don't realize. If you just go there and get tied up, I think arriving on time is a huge thing. I think that not being at the net front in a battle when the puck's behind the net, because that's worthless. I think that just arriving on time is a huge thing, and that's something that I've tried to work on a lot.” #LetsGoPens
Second game in a row where the NYR top-six is fantastic and the third line is killing them. They need more from Noah Laba. He is capable but it's not happening.
It's basically a half-season's worth of games that Alexis Lafreniére has been at a point-per-game pace. Dating back to the Panarin trade.
People think the GM's job is to decide who is a good hockey player or not (it is to an extent) when really their job is to manage a bureaucracy filled with game theory. That's why Eric Tulsky won a Cup and (Insert Hockey Guy Here) destroyed a team.

Kartye throwing his hands up instead of playing is a killer right there. Brutal. Not good in any situation but especially awful in context of the moment.
Non-contact injury for Linus Ullmark tonight in Ottawa. Has potential downstream consequences for the Rangers in terms of the goaltending market.

My most boomer take is that we are oversaturated with "welcome back" videos. That used to be a rare moment for franchise icons and legends. Brady Tkachuk didn't accomplish anything in Ottawa and then forced his way out mid-contract. Let the fans boo without the contrived video.
“All eyes on Ottawa that day. Everybody’s watching that game.”
@JeffMarek & @localpodcaster discuss what Brady Tkachuk’s highly anticipated return to Ottawa could look like on October 21.
