Neve is not the face of the franchise, ghostface is. However, she is the face of the franchises downfall due to constant unnecessary returns that diminish the franchises quality. 7 was proof of that. Franchises let go of their final girls all the time. Why can’t scream?

Spyglass fumbled the scream franchise so bad and scream 8 having Sidney Prescott return yet again is indicative of that. If Michael can move on from Laurie strode then ghostface can move on from Sidney. There is no stakes in scream anymore due to Sidney’s constant returns.
Last thing Neve clearly doesn’t give a fuck about Melissa’s firing cause she’s back as the lead now she’s okay working with a genocide company Spyglass
