When I was a kid in Los Angeles, I took the bus to the beach with my friends, and returned home barefoot and sandy. Now, kids walk to school through underpasses where people shoot up and have sex in cars. Dogs are tortured on Skid Row.
Our current leaders deny this reality, and in an elegant twist LA didn’t see coming, it’s going to take a former reality star to save us.

ICE has a public affairs office and its contact info is on its website ICE dot gov. And yet.
A deported immigrant who was profiled in a CalMatters story earlier this week misled the news organization about his criminal record and deportation history. CalMatters learned of the deception through a U.S. ICE social media post. cal.news/4BAPEN3

I have spoken out against anti-Muslim hate in the Michigan Senate race. I will speak out just as loudly when the target is Jewish people.
Let me state a little-known fact: ISRAEL GETS LESS THAN 0.1 PERCENT OF THE FEDERAL BUDGET. That’s less than one tenth of a percent!
But there is an ad running that tells voters they can’t afford groceries because the United States gives so much money to Israel. In reality, the United States spends money in and on countries all around the world – but this ad singles out the Jewish state. The ad is as dangerous as it is dishonest.
You can disagree with how the United States spends money abroad. But telling hungry families that the Jewish state is the reason they are suffering is wrong and shameful.
Blaming Jews for people’s problems is an old story. Anybody who has read the last century of history knows where it leads. It is a dark pathway.
This ad is anti-Jewish hate and should come down immediately. Abdul El-Sayed should denounce it today.

BREAKING: 🚨Abdul El-Sayed REFUSES to condemn blatantly antisemitic ad by Hasan Piker’s racist and extremist uncle Cenk Uygur. The ad dangerously targets American Jews. This is so disqualifying. Why won’t @AbdulElSayed @AbdulElSayedHQ condemn this blatantly antisemitic ad?

I am home for two weeks sleeping on the den floor with my dog while he recovers from TPLO surgery. I have watched all the television.
Please send TV recs. I do like the shows where spouses murder each other but I think I’ve watched all those too

We call on France to exercise restraint when dispersing the freedom fighters on the streets of Paris. These brave warriors for justice must receive immediate humanitarian aid, and their safety must be guaranteed in accordance with international law. Failure to comply will leave us no choice but to bring a case before the ICJ, in close cooperation with that renowned champion of human rights, Afghanistan.
Oh look an elected official calling media he doesn’t like fake news where have I heard that before
Raise your hand if you’re a Jewish person in LA who can’t believe the chutzpah of Nithya explaining she went on Hasan Piker’s podcast because “that’s where the votes are”
So incredibly disingenuous. Just one of the many self-aggrandizing self-appointed quasi-intellectuals trying to pretzel explain why he did something shitty.
The reason he did something shitty is to impress the other guys on this site who have also been stuffed into a locker one too many times.
Own it and apologize.
After identifying Jane Doe earlier tonight, I have now removed the information I published. Why? Because the principle has been served: to underscore that permanently anonymizing litigants who make sensational, spectacular, reputation-destroying claims about others -- so long as they can self-declare some form of victimization -- cannot be countenanced.
It's destructive, and an egregious abuse of the legal system by huckster plaintiff's lawyers. This practice has to end. Lawyers who seek to monetize this sleazy tactic should have to think A LOT HARDER about the claims they're willing to throw out into the public domain, using impressionable clients who may not even know what they're getting themselves into.
So why have I now removed her information?
Because I don't believe she's the main "villain" here. I primarily blame the bottom-feeding, media-manipulating, sleazebag lawyers who've made a whole cash-grab industry out of this racket.
Thomas Giuffra in particular has a lot to answer for. He's the central reason for the current debacle.
Given the intense nationwide and global interest in this case, I don't want to bring any further negative attention to this woman. I don't believe she ought to be punished or subjected to any retribution or humiliation. I believe a RATIONAL solution is necessary here. Not more character assassination -- of her, the seven young men, or anyone else. Truly, that is my genuine view.
I also recognize there are unique factors that must be taken into account given the hugely outsized publicity of this case.
So that's why I have removed the information. The aforementioned principle has been served: eroding the premise that anyone who claims any form of victimization is entitled to permanent anonymity, even as their lawyer(s) use the courts -- aided by a compliant media -- to name & shame others for the most heinous of crimes. No matter how lacking in credibility their own claims might be, or contradicted by mountains of other evidence.
That's all I ever sought to accomplish here. Not to impugn this young woman on a personal level. I have no animus toward her, and never have. I sincerely wish her the best, and hope her life is not defined by this calamity.
I completely stand by the accuracy of what I reported as to Jane Doe's identity. This is not a retraction -- it's an independent discretionary judgment I alone have made. No lawyers or anyone else have influenced this decision.

This stupid communist has been in city hall for 6 YEARS. She was in charge of the Homelessness and Housing Committee for years. She keeps acting like some novel outsider who's gonna shake up government. Lady...you ARE government. You ARE the problem.
Section 241(b) of the Immigration and Nationality Act governs third-country removals when a non-citizen has claimed he will be persecuted in his home country. It’s been on the books since 1952.
But a candidate for mayor is “appalled” that the Supreme Court read the plain language of a statute passed by Congress.
You guys, this is bad. (I mean, her rabid antisemitism is also bad, but deliberately skewing what SCOTUS did is a close second).
I am appalled that the Supreme Court has cleared the way to deport people to countries where they have no ties, with no notice, and no chance to argue against the decision.
One in four deportations last year happened in LA, ripping apart families who just want to make a living and send their kids to school. Angelenos deserve due process, no matter what their status is.

If you seek to “co-govern” with DSA, eagerly appear on Hasan Piker’s Podcast, and call the war in Gaza a “genocide”, you are not fit to be Mayor of LA. Nithya Raman has done all 3. Jewish Angelenos should be aware of her extremism before the election.

Nithya always loses these debates. She can't speak. She's very unimpressive in person, she has no cogent thoughts. Her worst enemy is her own lack of talent. The more people see her, the worse she does. Bass should lobby for 10 more debates LMAO.
WATCH: Gaza and the question of “genocide” became a major flashpoint as LA mayoral candidates @KarenBassLA and @nithyavraman faced questions at a packed Jewish forum.
Raman defended her past use of the term. Bass said she does not believe it applies.

I guarantee you that any Jew considering voting for Raman is someone for whom being Jewish is not the first or second or maybe even third core pillar of their identity. They're of course entitled to vote absolutely however they want to suit their own interests and priorities. But there's no way you pick this Piker loving, libel spreading, DSA-backed liar if being Jewish is at or near the top of your list.
On a stage with the flag of Israel proudly displayed, at a forum hosted by the leading Jewish LA organizations, in front of 1000 Jewish Angelenos in the room and in a race to represent hundred of thousands of Jews, @nithyavraman says she supports the BDS movement and will do so as mayor.
No hesitation. No hedging.
Horrible LA Mayoral candidate #NithyaRaman had the nerve to show up at our High Holidays services chewing gum, scowling when our rabbi declared our temple's support for Israel. Now she has the nerve to repeat the blood libel Israel "committed genocide?"

Governor, we’ve been through this already. If you want to regulate federal agents, you have to win a federal election. Until then, you have no jurisdiction.
Accordingly, I have advised DHS to disregard your bill attempting to ban safe and effective less-lethal tools that agents need to escalate dangerous situations.
BREAKING: @CAGovernor Gavin Newsom just signed 21 bills to protect Californians from Trump’s Orwellian immigration tactics used to terrorize people, including the nation’s first shock glove ban and a first-in-the-nation 25% tax on private detention centers.
