We had the chance to test out this lens with legendary photographer and Nikon Ambassador Joe McNally at Moto1 Motorsports Park all the way out in Long Island, to see how it handles pro-level sports action. Bikes, dirt, and a lot of speed make for a tough test of autofocus and reach. The lens has a built-in 1.4x teleconverter that stretches it to 420mm, a faster autofocus system, and 6.5 stops of vR for handheld and panning shots, and it’s more than a pound lighter than the AF-S version. Joe shoots it in real conditions and shares what he’s seeing.
