On October 21, 2026, the PHP development team released urgent security updates for two critical vulnerabilities that could allow attackers to run malicious code on affected servers without logging in.
PHP powers a huge number of websites, including many built using WordPress, making this a serious concern for website owners and businesses.
For website owners, the immediate priority is to check their PHP version and apply the relevant security updates.
The fixed releases include PHP 8.5.12, 8.4.27, 8.3.36 and 8.2.35. Older unsupported versions may require migration to a supported release.
Simply waiting or relying on a temporary workaround is not enough.
This is a reminder that cybersecurity is not a one-time task. Regular updates, monitoring and timely security checks are essential to protect websites and the information they handle.
