It has been narrated from Imām Abū Yūsuf رحمه الله that he said: “Just as my wife beautifying herself for me pleases me, me adorning myself for her also impresses her.” [al-Fatāwā al-Hindiyyah, 5/359]

Imām Zufar stated: I heard Abū Ḥanīfah assert: “An individual whose knowledge does not prevent him from the acts prohibited by Allah or constrain him from sin is from the damned losers.” [Manāqib Abī Ḥanīfah – al-Makkī, 340]

It has been narrated from Rasulullah ﷺ : “He who is not grateful upon small favours will not be grateful upon great favours.” [Majma' al-Zawā'id, 13648]

It has been narrated that Imām Abū Ḥanīfah would stay awake during half the night for worship. On one instance, he was walking the pathway when a man pointed towards him, informing his companion: “He is the one who stays awake the entire night for worship.” 1/2

Due to his humbleness, he dignifies the youth just as he dignifies the old, he is merry with the forsaken just as he is merry with the eminent.” [Bashārāt Sharḥ al-Ishārāt, 2/439] 2/2

Shams al-Dīn al-Samrqandī al-Ḥanafī al-Māturīdī: “The 'ārif (truly cognizant of Allah) is cheerful and courteous, abundantly smiling. 1/2
