⚛️One of the great parts of my time at @WorldNuclear has been the fact I have been able to engage and enthuse people regarding the nuclear cause. Engaging people..is crucial, as is helping them find the vocabulary to talk about nuclear energy @AgnetaRising world-nuclear-news.org/Artic…
Congratulations to all who have worked so hard to enable Barakah 1 to begin supplying clean and reliable electricity to the people of UAE.

Barakah will soon be joined by reactors under construction in Belarus, Bangladesh and Turkey. We need to see this repeated in more newcomer countries to have truly effective decarbonisation and deliver a cleaner and economically stronger tomorrow.

First criticality is a great achievement for all those working at Barakah. The reactors there will generate clean electricity, highly skilled jobs and economic growth for many decades.

Nuclear energy is a clean and reliable source of electricity, with modern plants such as Barakah built to the highest international standards of quality and safety. I urge more countries to follow the UAE’s example of deploying nuclear energy for a more sustainable future.
The global coronavirus pandemic will have a long-term impact on all of us, but as we look ahead to the recovery phase, there is a golden opportunity to change and improve, to build a stronger, cleaner and fairer world.
From today's webinar @OECD_NEA.

Reactors like those on Akademik Lomonosov, which were grid connected today, are well-suited for supplying electricity to hard-to-reach regions as well as serving smaller grids and industrial centres. We are at the dawn of a new era in nuclear technology.
