When you swallow your feelings, they find their way to places in your body.
They appear as the tightness in your neck, wearing your shoulders as earrings, the shift in breath, the racing of your heart, the change in body temperature & lack of flow within.
When triggered things that weren’t invited enter the conversation.
Your racing heart beat, faster breath, frantic eyes and an overall feeling of being unsafe.
You can’t regulate your way through an unregulated environment.
Being surrounded by chaos & constant stress isn’t an internal problem, it’s an external one.
And often it’s not until there’s distance from the environment that your body can begin to experience regulation.
Sometimes being calm in a crisis is because your body is familiar with chaos and we find comfort in what we know.
Fawners may find themselves agreeing with or placating their abuser because it feels safer than standing up to the person that hurt them.
It often feels easier to look after others for those that didn’t have their needs met.
You learned to prioritize the needs of others, giving them the thing you longed for most.
Fawners may find themselves doubting their own experience.
This isn’t because their experience isn’t true but because they’ve spent a lifetime defaulting to the reality of others, because it felt safer.

I love that we grow so much of our own food.
Today I made a small batch of horseradish. This plant was transplanted from my grandparents farm. The love & use of plants is generational in my family.
It tastes delicious & smelling this is also a great way to clear your sinuses!
Shame often creates this belief that we aren’t worthy, we find ourselves trying to live between two desires; “See me” but “Don’t see me too much”
Compassion and curiosity open the door to flow and ease.
Judgment and shame on the other hand often prevent them.
When don’t allow kids to be uncomfortable & constantly try to ease their discomfort we aren’t helping them.
We’re taking away an opportunity to sit with discomfort, feel it & work through it. That skill will help them in the future, beyond this moment of uncomfortable feelings.
When your feelings are dismissed instead of validated you begin to question yourself.
Not everyone has the capacity to hold space for your feelings, that’s on them, not you.
