Having a blast at #NEUDC2023 but despite what my fitbit thinks I most definitely did not enjoy a swim during the conference. (Apparently I swing my arms a lot while presenting...)
The reason? Those 27 miles take you over the Santa Cruz mountains. The interaction of the Monterrey Bay and the Santa Cruz mountains give Santa Cruz its own totally distinct weather patterns. (Our actual hot season comes in September and October.)
Today was a good reminder about the importance of microclimates. I drove 40 minutes from home to visit my friend. It was 91 F in her town, and 64 F back in Santa Cruz.
27 miles = 27 degrees

Short answer: quite possibly.
Long answer: need an RCT
