This has been a common flaw of reporting by many media in the past couple weeks. "Smaller banks losing deposits" turns out to be a bank with more than $100 billion of assets, which is not "small," and is only "smaller" in comparison to JPM or Wells.
Drives me a bit crazy.
The first line of this clickbait is “Small banks were not supposed to cause this much trouble.” SVB was nearly 1000 times the size of my average size community bank. “Small” banks didn’t cause these issues - large banks that should have known better, should have been managed better, should have been supervised better caused this much trouble.
