When the Knicks parted ways from Tom Thibodeau it was a surprise for me, I didn’t know what to expect.
When they hired Mike Brown after unsuccessfully outreaching 7 or 8 other candidates before him I was a little concerned.
Clearly the championship says they made the right decision moving on but the striking difference for me in the two coaches is how they use their rosters.

Every NBA team plans around the second apron.
Only the Knicks also answer to the IRS.
In Karl-Anthony Towns' $61 million option year, the Knicks start losing the tax write-off on every dollar past $1 million in their five biggest salaries.
It’s likely a reason why the Knicks stopped at $200 million for KAT.
I broke down the financials below 👇👇

Eight games in, I ranked all 11 Knicks rotation players by on/off net rating.
The team is +5.0 per 100.
Even though four of the 11 players are negative. Not even a 30-point win against the Bulls could fix that.
Guess the four before you click 👇👇👇

SNY just canceled SportsNite, shut down its website and laid off much of its staff.
Thank the heavens they kept Ian Begley. Nobody delivers better intel and coverage of the Knicks than my main man, @IanBegley
I wrote about why voices like his are so crucial to coverage and understanding of the team 👇

Jordan Clarkson is the most important player on the Knicks bench and he only plays 10 minutes a night.
New York is plus 45.8 per 100 with him on the floor and minus 6.4 without him.
Mike Brown gave him a DNP in Detroit last week. He should be playing 20 mins.
He answered that DNP with 18 in 17 minutes while the Knicks came back from 19 down in Chicago.

Mike Brown keeps pulling Mikal Bridges in the third quarter and Stefan Bondy hinted the hey should move him, so I ran all 30 cap sheets to find exactly which teams could take on his contract.
Exactly 19 teams can take his $33.5 million and send the Knicks back for less.
Only five of the realistic deals are worth Leon Rose considering a trade call this season if things don’t improve.
Guess the five.
Full trade list in the reply. 👇👇👇

The Knicks can trade the guy they benched Monday. They can’t trade either of the two guys who closed in his place until at least Dec. 15.
Three teams can take Mikal Bridges’ $33.5 million without New York touching the starting five. Keep him or move him?
I did the research and came up with three realistic, sound trades. Link below to check them out. Please subscribe and support @TheKOTShow Substack!

The defending champs are 2-4 and 32 points per 100 better when their $150M wing is on the bench.
“Trade him” vs. “leave him alone” is the wrong fight. Mike Brown has already picked a third option twice, and half of you were furious about it.

Friday in Philly was the entire Tyler Kolek debate in one game:
He can’t handle a blitz yet.
The Knicks bench can’t run without him.
Alvarado’s due back Wednesday. Mike Brown has a major decision to make.

Yesterday, Stephen A. Smith claimed the vibes around the Knicks were "stressed" because James Dolan was being "petty" about Knicks players not wanting to visit the White House.
Let's keep it a buck, the Knicks should NOT visit the White House. Good on them for not wanting to take a photo with an accused pedophile.
I wrote about the newest reason for the Knicks to skip: The House Judiciary Committee released a 53-page staff report detailing allegations from 11 women that link Donald Trump to Jeffrey Epstein's network, including five women who directly accuse Trump of rape or sexual assault.
