Everytime I watch a classic horror film I think. Why isnt this 8 hours long with a cliffhanger every hour?
HBO is officially developing ‘THE BIRDS’, a new series inspired by Alfred Hitchcock's film. Starring Sarah Snook, the series is a modern-day reimagining of the film set in Alaska with a murder mystery at the center. (Source: Deadline)

Last night I gave a lecture on La Jetee to a prison classroom and basically everyone in the class loved the movie. People who try to tell you that difficult or experimental art is only for educated nerds are wrong, that’s just shit that giant corporations want you to believe.

RIP Eric Bauza, one of the greatest of all time. Did almost every single one of those voices in Coyote vs Acme. Someone who clearly loved these characters so much that he wasn't just doing Mel Blanc, he made them his own. xitter.cf/TunesClips/status/1484…
This just might be Eric’s best performance of the whole series.

These people seem to think Kurosawa was making indie arthouse films and not well crafted populist cinema lol. Same thing with spaghetti westerns, our standards for blockbusters have gotten so low people think its impossible for something to have mass appeal and also not look shit

I would say having not seen the film yet but loving documentaries that the death of doc filmmaking came when we taught audiences that documentaries only exist as an extension of journalism and not a legitimate branch of the art of moving pictures. The only rule is to document.
Replying to @AkilahObviously
I cannot articulate why it feels fascist to destroy the art of documentary filmmaking. Another institution that kinda wasn’t a problem. Partially think it should’ve been a reality show??

As good an opportunity as any to give a shoutout to Werner Herzog's THE WHITE DIAMOND – a blatantly embellished documentary that doubles as a commentary on the imperialist filmmaking tradition it's operating in.
the idea that documentary has always been objective and has never been used as a fascistic tool is like actually laughable

While it’s true some people dismiss astrology on misogynist grounds, I’m afraid that Le Guin said it best.
anti-astrology is always a veiled misogyny

"We'll fix our failing infrastructure with flying cars" is such an American train of thought.
The Roadster could genuinely be a lifesaver in situations like these.

On the one hand, Israel says NAZA is a totally fictitious “blood libel” On the other hand, Israel says the soldiers in NAZA revealed “highly classified information” and “a breach in information security” Which one is it?
PM Benjamin Netanyahu ordered Israel's military, Shin Bet and attorney general on Sunday to reveal the identities of soldiers and officers interviewed in the documentary "NAZA" and prosecute them for "serious information security offenses, criminal defamation and harm to Israel's diplomatic and security interests." In his letter, Netanyahu wrote that "there is concern that those involved in the defamatory film committed serious criminal offenses by exposing highly classified information and creating a breach in the information security of a highly sensitive intelligence unit." | @jonathanlis1 🔗Read more: haaretz.com/israel-news/isra…

my most "pretentious" take is that i kinda don't wanna listen to you talk about films if you haven't watched any made before the 1980s
i hate when people act like watching older movies automatically makes their taste superior.
