As someone whose life and body have been transformed by cancer, I am delighted that @andyburnham went on Gogglebox to raise money to help fight cancer.
'Is that a really good use of his time?' 'Raising money for a cancer charity?' The Green Party's @floschechter brands Andy Burnham going on Gogglebox as 'ridiculous'.

Today I turn 88…I’ve seen some serious shit. The most serious of it all is love. I love my family, my friends, and my wonderful fans. The power of love remains.

A decade on, being mistaken for Sean Clerkin remains my most notable accomplishment. The incident was sprung on me in yesterday's episode of Scotcast, where I was finally able to unmask @MarkMcLaugh1in as being responsible for spreading the footage. 👇🏻 bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m0…

Chilling piece about the QEUH, the Glasgow hospital with an unfortunate habit of killing its patients. This accusation is extraordinary and yet somehow also thoroughly unsurprising. thetimes.com/magazines/the-s…

“An engineer specialising in healthcare ventilation said the air cooling system at the QEUH was good for reducing greenhouse gas emissions but did not meet health standards.”
The full extent of the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital scandal in Scotland, with thanks to all the patient families and whistleblowers for their time. The NHS opened an £842m super hospital. Then came the unexpected deaths thetimes.com/article/e39e257…

In the glorydays a reporter would have approached the gigantic Lothian Buses map which adorned the Evening News office wall, and worked out this incident was in fact in Alnwickhill.

If you'e never read The Falling Man, you should do so. I post this on September 11th every year, and I find time to read it on this day every year. Still, in my eyes, the greatest piece of journalism I have ever read. esquire.com/news-politics/a4…

If you were young in 2001, or weren’t even born yet, it can be hard to imagine what 9/11 felt like. The shock of that beautiful, cloudless morning. The heartbreak of the families whose loved ones were taken with such swiftness and cruelty. The realization that the forces of malevolence and violence were closer, and the future less certain, than we knew. But in the days that followed, we felt something else, too. Pride in the rescue workers who had rushed to the scene, and the passengers who had stormed the cockpit. Admiration for the men and women who left behind lives of comfort to serve their country. A deep resolve that nothing would break the will of a truly United States of America. Today Michelle and I are remembering those we lost that day, and those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the wars that followed. We pray for their families. And we hope Americans everywhere remember the true lesson of 9/11: that we can survive even our darkest days as long as we move forward as one nation and one people.
