It was the launch of Scotland: Beyond Net Zero tonight with founding partners @UofGlasgow & @EdinburghUni & 4 more uni partners. Achieving Net Zero is essential, as is collaboration, but the means to get there must boost productivity to stay on track to the end goal.

Important words from @uni_scot member @UofGVC. Scotland’s economy is boosted by research and innovation, with £8m of economic impact from every £1m invested. @scotgov can choose to power this by passing on in full Regional Innovation Fund money announced by UK Gov this week.
Shared my thoughts in @heraldscotland today on how to improve R&D funding for Scotland. Core research and knowledge exchange funding has increased at a greater rate in England while in Scotland funding hasn’t kept pace with that:

This is really sad news. Nick was a lovely man, and a huge champion of the power of higher education to enable people to realise their full potential. He was particularly brilliant at making the case for the importance of the creative disciplines to our future.
