A busy week in the 2nd Ward! Alderman Hopkins celebrated the DuSable Park groundbreaking, welcomed Chiang Mai Night Bazaar, attended the Old Town Gala, judged the Streeterville Pet Parade, met with Park Newberry residents, and wrapped up the SOAR Farmers Market season!

It is our pleasure to announce that, after advocating for a drop-off location in the ward and working with the Department of Streets and Sanitation, there are now bins for food scrap drop-off in the parking lot at Near North Library (310 W Division St).

The 2026 General Election is TODAY, and I encourage you to make a plan to vote. All precinct polling places will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. In the 2nd Ward, voters may cast their ballots at the Near North Library, in addition to their assigned precinct polling place.

On October 11, Alderman Hopkins and our office cheered on 55,000 Chicago Marathon runners! Thank you to the Lynn Sage Foundation and our community partners for joining us. Special congratulations to our own Zachary Joseph on completing his first marathon in 3:54:19!

All 50 early voting locations are now open for Chicago voters to cast a ballot for the general election on November 3.  In the 2nd Ward, voters may cast their ballots at the Near North Library, located at 310 W Division St.

As the fall season approaches, the Department of Streets and Sanitation encourages all Chicagoans to do their part and assist in keeping leaves out of the streets, curbs, and gutters.

The Illinois Department of Transportation is looking for feedback on the redesign of the Clybourn Metra Station, located at Clybourn and Armitage. IDOT wants to hear how you think it can be improved for future riders (surveymonkey.com/r/ClybournS… )

On Saturday, Alderman Hopkins proudly designated a block of N. State Pkwy as “Honorary Chilli Pepper Way,” honoring Chilli Pepper’s remarkable life and legacy. He was grateful to join her friends and family in celebrating the trailblazing Chicago icon and HIV/AIDS activist.
