Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk urged the US president to seek compromises after the Republicans' defeat and not to rely on vetoes as his main way of governing.
Trump had earlier threatened to become "Mr. Veto" if Democrats took control of Congress.
"Here, with my Polish experience, I should say that veto is the last thing which can help to conduct a good policy," Tusk said. He regularly faces vetoes from Polish President Karol Nawrocki, who blocks his government's initiatives.
"Democracy is amazing, really. I love democracy. It's a really beautiful thing," the Polish prime minister added.
