It’s better to have 20 races where riders are safe than 90 where they aren’t.

#ElSótano08O

i think some of you people don’t understand how protests or actions like this work btw. ofc standing still for 5 minutes won’t change anything magically but the point is to make people talk about it which puts pressure on uci to address the problem
We are so thankful, moved and proud of Fin’s fellow cyclists today for making a stand at the Tour of Lombardy. Things need to change and no other family should ever receive the phone call we received on 14th Aug. We sincerely hope the UCI are listening and changes will be made.

Marcel sharing this to Insta Stories.
This is terrible to see how basically absolutely nothing has changed since Finlay Tarling's accident. Yesterday at Coppa Bernocchi a DHL van saw the race was happening and still fully entered the course. But why could he’ve easily entered the course? Because there was no marshal at that entry from the public road from San Bernardo town. This was already enough. But today, after the Tre Valli Varesine race during the podium ceremony, Pidcock revealed that his Pinarello-Q36.5 teammates Marcel Camprubì and Thomas Gloag had been hit by a police motorbike travelling in the opposite direction with six laps of the finishing circuit remaining. The incident was not shown on the live broadcast. Pidcock also said he wanted to stop the race himself as a form of protest. “I wanted to stop racing myself; I was mad. I had guys riding in front of me, for me, and two of them were on the floor… Luckily, Marcel was ok; he could continue. Tom was also ok in the end, but he stopped the race; he has some stitches in his knee. Things like this shouldn’t happen.”

As long as the riders aren't willing to boycott important races the UCI will never give a shit

I appreciate your posts about this but nothing is obviously going to change unless the riders literally skip a race in protest or something

This is the road where it happened. It's not a private property exit but an alternative road out of the town above.

Nice to see that safety measures have been improved to prevent external vehicles from entering the convoy after Finlay Tarling’s death. We got lucky he didn't have to go in the other direction.
