Pete Hegseth is not the only Trump official pushing the MAGA Christian nationalist agenda, but the way he is force-feeding it to our military personnel is especially divisive and dangerous. We did not fight the American Revolution to replace British theocracy with an American version. Our rebellion rejected both monarchy and theocracy in favor of government by "We the People." Hegseth's false narrative that America was founded as a Christian nation, his relentless attempts to impose his religion on our military, and his obsession with waging a religious war against Islam, all flouts our Founders' imperative to maintain separation between church and state.
