Almost all research on the mind is in English. That’s a problem @blasi_lang @leraboroditsky @ev_fedorenko wired.co.uk/article/language…

What can we do?
See our list of potential solutions (infographic below) and this piece (doi.org/10.1038/s41562-021-0…).
We already know the answer – it’s just a matter of individuals, institutions, journals, funders and conferences having the will to implement these solutions.

Is this their own problem?
NO - it's everyone's problem because
Ethnic diversity = higher scientific innovation/impact (doi.org/10.1073/pnas.1915378…; doi.org/10.1038/s41467-018-0…)
Science by non-native English speakers is crucial for tackling global challenges (doi.org/10.1371/journal.pbio…)

I have only ever written about or presented my research in English, my first language. It is such a massive(ly unfair) advantage to be able to do so, and to engage with scholars around the world through this medium with so little effort on my part
How hard is it to do science in a language that’s not your first language? We quantified the severity of #languagebarriers for non-native English speakers when reading/publishing papers and attending/presenting at international conferences.

But I don't like the idea of google giving one answer when it can see certain info about who I am, and a different answer when it can't, to a scientific question where there is definite consensus.

Hi, hello! If you've been wondering what I've been up to this month:
May 1:🚲heading off to give a talk at Melb Uni. Excited to meet CogSci colleagues and talk about stuff that has been niggling at the back of my mind, but outside my usual presentation topics
So I've been offline. Enduring. Staring at the ceiling fan (unlike boy genius at least I do know why I am the way I am)
