These are shocking scenes at what was supposed to be a peaceful Nigerian event in the Netherlands. You can clearly see Dutch police officers unnecessarily beating adults in front of their own children. The crowd had reportedly followed police instructions and was leaving the premises when these disturbing incidents occurred. Such human rights violations and acts of disrespect must be strongly condemned. I hope the Nigerian government and the Nigerian Consulate in the #Netherlands will demand answers and seek accountability for these actions. If people were complying with police instructions, there was absolutely no justification for such treatment. These are violations of human dignity, and the possibility of racial discrimination. Such behaviour should have no place in a democratic society. @DutchPolice @NLatEU @officialABAT @NigeriaMFA @MinPres #SaloneX @dw_politics @sophievleeuwen @POL_Amsterdam @DePolitieheli #NigeriaX @ecowas_cedeao @MensenrechtenNL

The Sierra Leone WAEC is incapable of conducting public exams in Sierra Leone. The entire body should be dissolved. A one-academic-year pause is needed to restructure the exam body once again. The entire staff should be sacked and replaced with a tentative body, including staff from Ghana and Nigeria or other good-performing WAEC countries, to enable the restructuring process. Enough of this recurring malaise in our educational sector. This decay has been pervasive for decades now. #SaloneX
The Leader of the opposition in Parliament Hon. Abdul Kargbo has issued a statement calling on WAEC and the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education to address the withholding of 47,454 WASSCE results this year. Read more here: facebook.com/share/p/19Wqe8f… #TruthTellers

We cannot achieve an industrialised Africa without strong energy infrastructure. We should now be working on building energy for the future, and the only answer is nuclear energy. The current cost of production in countries with an acute lack of electricity is high and unrealistic. #SaloneX

Cautious optimism on the President's six peace proposals, but trust must be built on accountability Peace is only as strong as the trust citizens have in those who enforce the law. I therefore urge the Government to establish a Citizen-Police Committee to monitor and report instances of political intimidation by the police and other persons. It could sit under the Office of the Ombudsman, operate as a standalone independent body, or take a hybrid form through the Citizen-Police Partnership. Whichever model is chosen, it should have the following: ▪️ Independence and public credibility
▪️ A safe channel for citizens to report intimidation
 ▪️ Regular public reporting
▪️ Cross-party and civil society representation I hope this process produces the intended results, and we shall contribute towards a Sierra Leone that works for us all. My activism has never been out of politics or dislike, but in pursuit of everlasting peace and the development of Sierra Leone. @julius_maadabio @ebklegacy @AYVnews @TruthmediaSL #SaloneX @LibertyOnlineTV @sierraeyesalone @MoiceComm

The Architects of Poverty: One of the World's Poorest Nations, Despite Its Rich Mineral and Biodiversity Wealth! A peace conference in Sierra Leone, and once again it's all about the leaders. President Bio gives the keynote while the people who need peace most struggle to survive. Sierra Leone sits on diamonds, rutile, bauxite and iron ore, with some of West Africa's richest biodiversity. Yet the people living on that land stay poor. These are the modern-day architects of one of the world's poorest states. They speak of mineral wealth lifting the masses, then divide the nation and enrich themselves. They quarrel to feed their egos, with no regard for a struggling country. Now state resources are being used to mend fences that won't last, because the quarrel was never about the people's problems. Meanwhile, Zainab Sheriff sits in jail for criticising the last elections. She went over the top, but four years and two months is not proportionate. Unity photos don't feed anyone. Fix the people's problems, not your egos. #SierraLeone #ResourceCurse @julius_maadabio @ebklegacy @APCofficial001 @MoiceComm @TruthmediaSL @LibertyOnlineTV #SaloneX

Andy Burnham seems more inclined to rejoin the #EU or restore free movement, and the idea may be popular among Brits today. But it was the people's vote that took the #UK out of the EU, so any return must come through another people's vote. His legitimacy is not in question, but he would show greater boldness by calling a snap election and securing the people's mandate. #Democracy must not be only calculated mathematically. It must be sown in the hearts and minds of the people, and a general election is the only medium through which that can be expressed @AndyBurnhamGM #Brexit @BestForBritain @UnHerd @spikedonline @LBC @GBNEWS #GeneralElection #UKPolitics #EU #SaloneX

Advisory: People of African descent living in Europe are urged to stay away from the protests unfolding across the continent. Those who have lived here for some time will understand why. Beyond the risks, the scale of destruction and vandalism is senseless and counterproductive. How can anyone claim to advocate for better living standards while destroying the very means of achieving them? This is more than an economic argument. I believe a geopolitical contest, a new Cold War of sorts, is at play, with external forces fuelling the unrest. @EUROPOLITICS_sa @BreakingF24 @CrisiscenterBE @BBCNews @EU_Commission #FranceProtests #SaloneX #Africa

The Kush Crisis: Sierra Leone's Abandoned Dead The attached video, filmed by a non-profit organisation, lays bare an ongoing national disgrace. Volunteers are going from street to street, providing support to victims of Kush, and collecting the corpses of the dead, bodies that lie exposed in the open for days because neither the government nor the Freetown Municipality shows any sign of caring anymore. This is the reality our people face in Sierra Leone today. The Kush epidemic spiralled out of control for one simple reason: the police @PoliceLeone stand accused of colluding with the dealers themselves and some of those alleged dealers are politically exposed persons. When law enforcement protects the very people poisoning our youth, who is left to protect the public? Here lies the greater danger. If the police cannot, or will not, arrest Kush dealers, we cannot reasonably expect them to confront cocaine traffickers, who are far wealthier, far more powerful, and far better connected. The same rot that shields the small dealer will shield the kingpin. The logic is inescapable: once impunity is normalised at one level of the drug trade, it cascades through every level above it. Sierra Leone is sliding towards the edge, governed by what may prove the most incompetent and corrupt administration in our history. A state that leaves its dead in the street has forgotten its most basic duty. A state that shields its poisoners has abandoned its people entirely. The footage speaks for itself — and it demands an answer. @FCC_Freetown @MoiceComm @UKinSierraLeone @USEmbFreetown @DutchPolice @sierraeyesalone @GleanerSierraLe @TruthmediaSL @LibertyOnlineTV @AYVnews @JudiciaryofSL @guardian @TheEconomist

Bodies are turning up on Freetown's streets with alarming frequency. Either the government is overwhelmed or it simply does not care. Neither is acceptable.

Growing populations demand local governance. Without Councils, genuine oversight and decentralisation remain out of reach. This is commendable! #SaloneX
Three new Western Rural Councils maps released Authorities have released maps for the three new rural councils now in the Western Area. They are the Waterloo Rural Council, the Mountain Rural Council and the York Rural Council. The announcement was made during the Civic Day engagement in Waterloo, where residents were invited to view the maps and speak directly with officials. #SierraLeone

France's Student-Led Cost-of-Living Protest Movement The French Enlightenment was one of the most influential intellectual movements in European history. Emerging mainly in the 17th and 18th centuries, it challenged absolute monarchy, religious intolerance and inherited privilege, and rejected the idea that ordinary people should simply obey those in power. Its message was revolutionary: human beings possess reason and dignity, political authority must be justified, and liberty should never depend on the goodwill of a king. It helped shape the Revolution of 1789 and our modern understanding of civil liberties, constitutional government and human rights. Yet France also showed a profound contradiction: a nation that proclaimed liberty and equality did not always extend those principles to everyone. Today, the French student-led and cost-of-living protest movement carries that tradition forward. Across Europe and the world, ordinary people face creeping economic hardship, while a handful of tech billionaires build technology that takes away jobs and leaves the future of our youth in doubt. French students and workers have chosen to respond, and we commend them for it. This movement will not stop in France. It will reach cities across Europe, because the question it asks belongs to everyone: who is progress for, if not the people?
