Replying to @soyuzniken
It was one of the recommendations of @AltMobilityPH’s multi-sectoral Philippine Mobility Summit - but for better coordination over trimming bureaucracy.
If I’m not mistaken, this is also how transport agencies like @TfL are structured.

Some people ask, how can the volume of cars have *decreased* along EDSA when it feels like things have gotten worse in the last 10 years?
Answer: Volume here is a measure of vehicle *flow.* If EDSA is congested more often than before, you would expect flow (of cars) to decrease.

The President should direct government agencies to toe the line, end regime of car-oriented and outdated policies; Prioritize active, public transport. Direct Congress for proper AT/PT funding, and to tag the Philippine Bicycle Act as a priority bill.

Good to hear DOTr ASEC de Velez acknowledge the many mistakes have been committed in Metro Manila; a deliberate move to ensure it isn’t replicated in cities outside of Manila.
But I hope this isn’t a way out of implementing reforms to address mobility issues in Metro Manila.

In Manila, we have @AltMobilityPH’s #Bikenomics that estimate personal savings at PHP281k/year and Government savings at PHP26Mn/km.

Applying this to current e-Trike + road safety discussions
1. Private cars remain priority for road space that, on the ave., transport only 1-2pax;
2. Little to no space is allocated for other modes;
3. By design and policy, speed is encouraged and this is counter to road safety – at Pasig City, National Capital Region
We need a shift in mindset:
1. The hierarchy of road users dictate that vulnerable road users come first;
2. Designing streets for the most vulnerable is designing streets for all;
3. Complete Streets: Space distributed equitably such that there is space for all

Thanks, @Ted_Cordero @gmanews for sharing @AltMobilityPH’s Bikenomics! While expected, as the article says, seems like the same old tactics from the Government. As 2024 sets in, we wish for a new approach to improving mobility, regardless of the season.

TLDR: The real problem is the government’s over-prioritization of motor vehicles. It should instead help Filipinos get access to cheaper, more efficient forms of transport that will eventually improve mobility for all.
