We are proud to partner with @SpeakTB to highlight the opportunities for leveraging successes in TB and noncommunicable disease care - including the compassion and patient-centered care delivery so excellently demonstrated in Chennai @s_keshavjee @MWAdvanceAandD @AmandaBrumwell
"We have to think about going beyond hospitals & taking health care to where people live and work. For that, we have to figure out the nuts & bolts of health care delivery, & build programmes based on care & compassion" - @s_keshavjee delivering an impassioned call to action
We can’t work in siloes if we want health for all! Our inspiring colleagues in Chennai are at the forefront of integrative TB and NCD care. Partnerships, patient-centeredness and compassion are key ingredients for success @SpeakTB @s_keshavjee @MWAdvanceAandD @BBhoodooSmith

Paul has left us too soon. A champion for working in solidarity with those in need, a teacher and inspiration to so many, and a beacon of compassion. We have lost a dear friend and the world has lost a bright light. @PIH

This incredible work from @MWAdvanceAandD and the whole team is an example of patient-centered care for truly the most vulnerable people. Congratulations on the well-deserved feature! @s_keshavjee @AAD_Durham

Cost to run US health care system:
—$2,497/person
Cost to run Canada's single-payer system:
—$551/person
The next time someone tells you we can't afford Medicare for all, remind them that our profit-driven system costs *4x more* to run than Canada’s single-payer system.
Linda Polman, Paul Farmer, and others call the tendency for humanitarian aid to follow the funding in siloed programs the “crisis caravan.” But aid must address community-identified problems with integrated, not siloed, care, to rebuild systems destroyed by conflict. @Media_AAD

I have been supporting people experiencing homelessness to quarantine and isolate related to #COVID19 since March, 2020 and this is what I have learned.
Quarantine + resources + entertainment = annoying but doable.
Quarantine + nothing = feels like jail and can be traumatic.

Concerns about outdoor transmission risk seem to be trending again. What is the risk of transmission outdoors and should we be more worried about outdoors with the new more-transmissible variant? 🧵(1/n)

There are effective approaches already in use outside the U.S. that can provide focused protection for the vulnerable and prevent transmission of viruses indoors, write @s_keshavjee and Tom Nicholson wsj.com/articles/two-existin… via @WSJ
I have the privilege of working with these folks, and it's an understatement to say they're doing fantastic work. We can't let covid derail care for people who need it.
We're proud to co-sponsor the "Chronic Disease in Times of COVID-19" webinar. These speakers are leading the charge for innovating care delivery in these turbulent times. @SpeakTB @DukeDCID @thePHFI @harvardmed @MassCPR @IhppThailand @DukeSanford @s_keshavjee
Grateful to have contributed to this meaningful work with @Media_AAD and @AunPalmquist. Resettlement for Yazidis and displaced people must be safe and sustainable. Care delivery and community rebuilding must be trauma-informed and person-centered to truly have an impact.
Our research with @AunPalmquist demonstrated an urgent need for trauma-informed care for displaced Yazidi women. These people cannot be forgotten by the international community. Support safe and sustainable resettlement for Yazidis. @UNCpublichealth @DukeDCID @DukeSanford
