🚨❌Shopify gives out millions in capital to merchants all over the world. But a 2 year old luxury brand with 31% returning rate and zero fraud? apparently that’s a risk.
Hopefully get some help from my connections 🙌🏽
Today Shopify put a hold on our payouts 10% of every sale locked for 120 days because of “increased chargeback risk”.
6 weeks before Black Friday, the moment we worked the whole year for.
We didn’t even hit the threshold.
2 years ago i started this brand with nothing but an idea. today we’re a luxury fashion brand selling worldwide, with $10M in sales on Shopify.
31% of our customers come back to buy again, and our return rate is 3% in fashion, where most brands see 20 to 30%.
We never had a single hold.
And we run this tighter than almost anyone on their platform. our customers are international, they travel and live abroad, so billing in one country, shipping in another and an IP from a third is normal for us. that’s why every medium and high risk order is reviewed by hand. this month 29 orders were flagged, all 29 were checked, and not one was fraud.
Every flagged order goes on automatic hold and nothing ships before it’s reviewed. our team checks held orders every business day, and if a customer can’t be verified the order is cancelled and refunded. you can only buy what’s physically in our warehouse, with stock updated daily. if there’s a delay we contact the customer first with a confirmed ship date, if we can’t restock within 14 days they get a full refund, and every chargeback is answered with full evidence.
We sent all of this to their team and still a system that never really looked at us decided to punish us. We pay for Shopify Plus and not one human can explain it or take it back.
This isn’t risk management. This is destroying the brands that do everything right instead of no shippers or blackhats.
@tobi @harleyf @Shopify you say Shopify is built for founders. Prove it. Get someone to look at this today and lift the hold before Black Friday please.
Ecom twitter, if this ever happened to you, say it under this post. i need your help to get this seen. a repost means everything right now 🤝
New! Amazon is pushing a smarter way to reduce returns.
Amazon's Replacement Parts Program lets sellers replace broken or missing components instead of accepting a full product return.
Amazon reports that 64% of customers who received replacement parts in 2025 kept their products.
Fewer returns, lower costs, happier customers. A potential game changer.
Any sellers using this yet?

Due to brand review, we've had $100k in inventory stranded for 6 weeks . We are stuck in a customer-no-service doom loop. Started with 4 ASINS, then worked our way down to only 1 remaining ASIN. Finally, we got it cleared and received an email on Oct 17 stating "We have reviewed your request and have determined that you may continue to sell XX products on Amazon. Please wait up to 24 hours for approval to process in our system." However, approval never processed. After reaching back out, we received a rejection notice stating "We have reviewed the documentation and information that you provided and have determined that you are not eligible to sell XX products because: -- You have provided documents or information that was not requested." It also now is requeting info on all 4 original ASINS again. from 4 to 1 to cleared and now starting back at 4.
I called account health assurance and spoke with a "specialist" recently. One of the most maddening conversaitons i've had in a while. The specialist said the reason amazon cant confirm the CC used on the purchase to the CC statement is because its not registered as the payment method on our amazon seller account. OR it is not the amazon registered deposit account that we receive distributions into. Let this sink in. Read it again if you have to. These are the specialists that hold the life/death of multimillion dollar selling partner businesses in their hands.
From previous calls, I understand the real issue is it involves W2 employees making purchases on my behalf. We have provided employment verificaiton docs, and written explanation of the business owned employee CCs. They cant find the employees CC number on the CC statements because they are not listed at the top of the statement. Instead, they are listed down near the transactions. I have made multiple calls and am able to demonstrate the issue to the support staff on the phone. They agree they can see the issue but then has to create a case to send to the appropriate team. The appropriate team fails to understand the issue and rejects the submittal. There is no mechanism in place for us to call and explain this to csm-brandreview team. instead we have to play the telephone game with other "specialists".
@amznsellerhelp please provide a mechanism where we can speak or chat with internal teams on critical issues that impact the livelihoods of multiple families.

That’ll be no @amazon. You are not getting this data even temporarily. Do better. Look at me when you deliver it.

If you sell in Canada and are looking to expand to another marketplace, please contact me. I’m speaking with a marketplace that’s looking to connect with Canadian sellers.

US Sellers getting pushed off of a US platform because Chinese counterfeiters ambush US seller listings, do fake Copyright infringement claims against mom & pop businesses and “It’s just capitalism”. Gimme a break.
Amazon’s new multichannel tools promise to bring eBay, Shopify, TikTok and Walmart into Seller Central, with listings, orders and profitability all in one place.
The convenience sounds appealing. But I wonder how many sellers will want Amazon to see what’s happening across their other channels. Will sellers be comfortable connecting all that data to Amazon?
Would you use it?
#WorkWithUsAmazon @BowTiedBroke is a legend
After 15 yrs, I think this will be my last year selling on Amazon. It has now become a DEN OF THIEVES. Buyers purchase an expensive item, receive it, claim it's damaged, return it (but what the buyer returns is usually some broken junk they had laying around their house, while they keep what was in the box they received). Amazon issues a refund to the buyer and the seller can be out thousands of dollars. And Amazon ALWAYS sides with the buyer, rarely the seller.
It is also now overrun by Chinese sellers hijacking small mom & pop listings & getting take down orders on the mom & pop listings as I outline in my post below from 2025. And there is literally nothing the small US businesses can do to rectify it.
And now the fees they charge almost make it impossible to make a profit. One absurd fee they rolled out is a "Low inventory fee". If you run out of stock of an item because it sells fast, you get charged a fee FOR BEING OUT OF STOCK. Heaven forbid your supplier is out of stock, or you just don't have any extra inventory of that item, they'll still whack you with a fee each month for not having inventory at their fulfillment center for them to ship out. Coupled with all the other fees they charge, you can easily hit 40% of your sales revenue going straight to Amazon in fees now. That doesn't include YOUR costs, like cost of goods, packaging, etc.
After 15 years, to me, it's just really not worth it anymore. It's been a good run but they've made it almost impossible for small third party sellers to make a profit. They prioritized the low cost Chinese knock offs years ago and now seem to prioritize complete thievery all in the name of Bezos' original mission of being the "Earth’s most customer-centric company.” The first and most important principle of Amazon's Leadership Principles is "Customer Obsession".
But I'll add one tweak: "Customer Obsession: Even if the customer is a blatant thief"
(A recent screenshot of a discussion on their seller forums)
This is a strange one. An @amazon seller says they’ve owned and manufactured their own brand for more than 10 years, are enrolled in Brand Registry, and never sell third-party products.
Yet Amazon sent them this notice saying their listings will be removed October 28 because the brand is no longer eligible for third-party sellers.
Amazon says sellers with the Brand Representative role can continue selling, which makes this even more confusing for actual brand owners receiving the notice.
Has anyone else received this despite owning the brand and having the correct Brand Registry roles?
Trying to understand how widespread this is.

Even more reason to diversify off Amazon. They will look back at 2026 and realize this is when they lost their way as they threw sellers under the bus again and again and again and again.
FYI for FBM sellers: Amazon says that starting December 18, 2026, most US returns for seller-fulfilled orders will require a prepaid return label.
Within seven calendar days of a return request, sellers must upload the label through Manage Seller-Fulfilled Returns or issue a full refund without requiring the item back. If neither happens, Amazon says it may automatically issue a returnless refund and deduct the amount from the seller’s account.
Heavy and bulky items are temporarily excluded. Labels sent outside Amazon’s returns workflow won’t count.

AWD gating nonsense is back for Q4 @AmazonASGTG.
This is for 1 unit of a 100g product where we have just 1 unit in stock. One other FBA seller. I don’t know why I bother @amznsellerhelp

Texas is enforcing linked accounts! What can possibly go wrong :)
Texas just negotiated a settlement where Temu must terminate not only the offending store but affiliated stores tied to the same merchant after a confirmed harmful-product finding — with a $600,000 penalty if Temu doesn’t do it fast enough.

2nd straight Friday Amazon took down my top listing. lol. Feel like I am trying to be put out of business.
FYI: Amazon safety requests are reportedly reaching established resellers, too.
A seller tells ASGTG that Aurora resellers have received more than 200 safety requests involving stock products. Some requests appear to be duplicated across sellers, and the seller says Amazon explained that the process helps determine who is legitimate.
These requests could also affect bundles, where a product’s documentation may be requested across multiple listings. Sellers are asking whether invoices and letters of authorization can establish legitimate sourcing—and whether safety testing could be handled centrally at the brand level.
This is a report from sellers, not a confirmed Amazon-wide policy announcement. If you’re receiving similar requests, let us know what products are affected and what documentation Amazon is asking you to provide.
