Pronouns in bio has no theory of mind to grasp the idea that getting boys hooked on reading (a positive good) does not happen by "teaching them" to enjoy books approved of by people who put their pronouns in their bios.
If the roles were reversed and we said, "Just teach your daughters to like Starship Troopers even if they'd rather read Little House," this same person would likely throw a fit. And would be perfectly justified in doing so.
The essential problem here, of course, isn't even that publishing houses have been taken over by people like this. That's a symptom. The real problem (the wall being argued with, if you will) is the ideological insistence on denying the reality that, generally speaking, BOYS AND GIRLS LIKE DIFFERENT THINGS. What will induce a typical girl like reading at the critical age will not generally be the same that will entice a typical boy.

Hatchet was after my time; I've never read it. The Hardy Boys were what got me hooked on reading at age 8. Then Narnia, LoTR, Heinlein, Asimov, Herbert.... The longest I've gone without reading a book since was boot camp when my access was severely restricted. And even that was fairly short since there were a couple of books I was allowed to read (I read the Bluejacket Manual multiple times).
I also suffered through multiple forced readings of The Great Gatsby--the most overrated book in the English canon. If you'd tried to use that or Jane Eyre to get me started, I'd have preferred video games, too.
Jane Eyre may be a masterpiece, but it simply is not the path to getting young males hooked on reading. Whatever one's opinion of Hatchet (I don't have one), if it gets kids hooked on reading, it's a positive good.

The "cuts" were to eliminate a double-dip accounting mechanism that allowed rural hospitals to be reimbursed at a level above their actual costs.
There are likely other ways to find additional funds for these providers -- like the billions on fraud savings being realized by aggressive policing of Medicaid programs being looted while states look the other way.
But there is no purpose in restoring accounting gimmicks that only hide a shortfall in operating revenues.

Lay people don't appreciate how much of post-1960s scholarship has been invalidated by ancient DNA, nor the extent to which it's vindicated earlier scholars, nor how generations have been mal-educated.
The post-60s errors are all in a single direction too: they interpret evidence through a model of human nature that predicts behaviors that run contrary to everyday intuition and observation. For example, for decades, dogma was that violence was rare until the bronze age. Of course, violence was, in fact, ubiquitous. Pots changed because people changed, not because (as scholars asserted with straight faces somehow) ideas diffused through word of mouth.
You can draw your own conclusions about why the academy pushed this model so hard, but it happened at exactly the same time the academy was pushing tons of other ideas inconsistent with an intuitive understanding of human nature.
Ancient DNA has made late 20th century revisionist historiography untenable, but other disciplines are still pushing related nonsense. All of it must be defunded and rebuilt.
