Cry me a river if you’re complaining about 1 second being on the clock at the end of the game. If you’re in that situation you didn’t do your job in the first place

Hell week might make your athletes tired.
That does not mean it prepares them for game one.
If camp is all volume and no true game-speed exposure, the first game becomes the hardest thing their nervous system has experienced.
Then the cramps show up.

🚨🏴 A reporter asked Rio Ferdinand if winning another World Cup would make Messi the GOAT in his eyes.
🗣️Reporter: "Rio, would another World Cup be enough for you to call Messi the greatest of all time?"
🗣️Rio Ferdinand: "Messi could go on and win another world cup trophy, but that still wouldn't change my opinion that Cristiano Ronaldo is the greatest footballer of all time.
Argentina won World Cups before Messi, so it's not as if they were never a football powerhouse. They've always been one of the biggest football nations.
"I believe Argentina had the quality to win the 2022 World Cup even without Messi. A seven-game tournament shouldn't be the only thing that defines who the greatest player in football history is.
Greatness is built over an entire career, and for me, Ronaldo still sets the standard."

The 3–5 rep range is one of my favorites for building athletes.
It develops neural efficiency, maximal strength, and hypertrophy.
As Kelly Baggett explains in The Ultimate No-Bull Speed Development Manual, explosiveness = strength × speed.
Getting stronger will initially make athletes more explosive. Eventually, though, strength alone isn’t enough.
That’s why we have to train how fast athletes express force, not just how much force they can produce.
One of the best coaching books I’ve read in the past year. Highly recommend it.

To maximize Strength for Athletes, we need to prioritize High Tension at optimal speeds.
To do this we need to use Heavy Loads with Low Reps that force the CNS to discharge MUs quickly.
This allows us to train optimal sequencing and also only accumulate only stimulating reps.

Build an overcapacity in athletes…
Two soccer athletes are playing against each other:
If athlete “A” has a top speed of 23 MPH
& Athlete “B” has a top speed of 16 MPH
Athlete “B” will gas out more quickly because their max speed is less than athlete “As”.
As they both chase the ball down all game, Athlete “A” only needs to accelerate to a sub maximal speed in order to beat athlete “B” to the ball. While athlete “B” has to do repeated max effort bouts.
Speed kills.

Having BYU behind ND makes college football figure skating or gymnastics. You don’t even need to play the games. It’s so dumb. BYU plays in a power conference. Tougher schedule. They have less losses and better wins. Ruins the whole sport. #provodave #byuscrewed

You won’t find a more hard working athlete and anyone more deserving of this opportunity than her
Go be great Lucy
Absolutely loved this talk
Jesus is our savior and he will be with us in our trials and with his help we can overcome anything
We learn that while in the garden of Gethsemane, the Savior did ask the Father if the trial could pass over Him—but then He also said that if it was the Father’s will, then the Savior would do it. In other words, the Savior even took on doubt and uncertainty, but He had faith in His Heavenly Father.
Brothers and sisters, your proving and strengthening will come. It may come quietly, through the trials of family life. It may come through illness, or disappointment, or grief, or loneliness.
These moments are not evidence that the Lord has abandoned you. Rather, they are evidence that He loves you enough to refine and strengthen you. He is making you strong enough to carry the weight of eternal life.
If we remain faithful in our service, the Lord will refine us. He will strengthen us. And one day, we will look back and see that those very trials were evidence of His love. We will see that He was shaping us to be able to stand with Him in glory. #GeneralConference

If your team CRAMPED in Week 1, it's because they were not exposed to the game demands of their position(s).
It had NOTHING to do with how many Gassers, 40s, or 110s you ran for "conditioning."
Also, running ONLY 10yd FLYS does not expose them to the High Speed Acceleration demands of the game.
Is Max Speed IMPORTANT? YES. If you don't specifically train it, you'll never hit it in practice or a game, and will subsequently get slower and less explosive throughout the season.
However, High Speed Acceleration is just as (maybe MORE) IMPORTANT. Not only in training, but also as a part of practice.
If they never get a chance to RECOVER, then there's no chance they'll hit Max Speed or High Speed Acceleration, so start there.
Then program your week accordingly, to make sure your players are getting the EXPOSURES they need to be ready for game night.
Don't just BLAME player nutrition and the Strength staff...

Sometimes I have an awesome idea to buy a house with a lot of land and then build a cool barndominium in the yard with a cool athletic training facility to help with my speed training gig I’ve just started
But then I remember I’m a high school teacher 😭😭
Found a cool option
