Despite no 1st-round pick in 2027, the Colts GM opening is shaping up to be fairly enticing:
- Tons of cap space
- Currently 10 2027 draft picks
- A patient owner
- Quite a few young, ascending players
Pretty much a blank slate to rebuild the team in their image.
Damn 😢
Now official. Thank you, Buck.
We have acquired a 2027 fourth-round NFL Draft pick from the @49ers in exchange for DeForest Buckner.

Thank you for everything @DeForestBuckner 💙
2 out of 4 players on the side of Lucas Oil Stadium have been traded in the last few hours.
It was a joy covering and watching Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner ball out Colts uniforms.
Rebuilds are painful, no matter how much they’re needed.
Another Colts franchise pillar is headed to the NFC West. Buckner had obviously grown tired of losing in Indy, and now goes to a team with Super Bowl aspirations.
Writing was on the wall for this one. Hopefully Buck can get a ring in SF.
Reunion! The Colts are trading three-time Pro Bowl DL DeForest Buckner to the 49ers for a 2027 fourth-round pick, sources tell @ringer @netflixsports.
Buckner came to San Francisco as the No. 7 overall pick in the 2016. A decade later, he’s back.
Now official. Thank you, Big Q.
We have acquired a 2027 third-round pick and a 2028 fifth-round pick from the @Seahawks in exchange for Quenton Nelson.
With the fire sale now commencing, Colts need to play Allen and all of their young players as much as possible.
Really wish Nelson could have played his entire career with the Colts, but now he goes to a contender with a chance to get a ring. Hall of Famer and will be in the Colts ROH one day as well.
Ngl, this one hurts.
Trade: Colts have agreed to send eight-time Pro-Bowl guard Quenton Nelson to the Seattle Seahawks, per me and @rapsheet. Nelson is on an expiring contract and the Colts are opting to get back draft capital now before they could lose him in free agency.
But an all-time Colt now moves on to the Seahawks.

The Colts are going to have a lot of cap space this offseason (especially when they cut Daniel Jones) and not a lot of people to actually pay.
Adetomiwa Adebawore needs to be a top priority. Developmental win that is hitting his stride, legit star potential with how he’s played

Vikings blitzed Daniel Jones on 85% of his dropbacks, the highest rate for any NFL team in the past 20 seasons, per ESPN Research.
Only a matter of time before Jones threw an INT. What a terrible decision and awful performance.
Defense gave a valiant effort and kept them in it. This one is on Jones, Steichen’s play-calling, and Shrader missing kicks.
2-5 and onto Jacksonville. Yikes.
