WOW. How lucky is WI Volleyball to have Kelly Sheffield at the helm.
"The tendency, the human nature is when you see somebody, especially a female, that has a lot of confidence you try to knock them down. You try to look for things...what is wrong, how dare you have that kind of confidence. Which is just such a shame because we are trying to go the exact opposite direction."

Guards we have to do better by our bigs. If you have teammates willing to get inside, hold a seal & get pounded on we’ve got to be able to deliver a pass to a lead hand away from the defense while they’re holding their man off.

If you want to succeed with a difficult kid… you have to separate the attitude from the student. You don’t lower your standards, but you understand that there is always something motivating the behavior. Understanding leads to empathy… and empathy makes relationships possible.

Kids are pretty cool.
This ‘Appreciation Station’ at @WachterMiddle has been pretty popular lately. Kids can leave a note of appreciation for a teacher or staff member.
I think we need more ‘Appreciation Stations’ in more places!

My heroes are teachers. You get the job done no matter what, even in a pandemic.
You’re doing whatever you can to serve your students.
You’re reaching out. You’re cheering them on. You’re giving them hope.
It’s not easy to do this work. But it’s worth it. It’s changing lives.

I think it’s important to like your students...
... except the really challenging ones.
They need to be loved.

The primary goal in addressing a discipline issue should be to prevent future misbehavior, not to prove who’s in charge, not to prove who’s right, not to gain the upper hand. Always strive to protect the relationship and use mistakes as learning opportunities.

Kudos to our leader @leeziegler2 for doing this every morning @WachterMiddle. Each morning every Ss is greeted with a smile.
#ThoughtForTheDay What if every school had a greeter? I think most people appreciate a friendly smile. Imagine a school where students & staff were welcomed w/a warm greeting as they entered the school each day, not just by the P, but rotated to T’s & S’s as well. #Culturize
