The new space age is here! A British-designed, British-built satellite allows us to see threats sooner and keeps us all safer 🇬🇧 🛰️
UK military satellite Titania has successfully launched into orbit. Alongside Project Inaros, we can see threats sooner, making the UK safer. Titania & Inaros are British-built and designed, meaning more highly skilled jobs, a stronger industrial base and a more secure UK.

Polish police confirmed the 24-year-old shooter in camo gear who carried out the tragic attack in Krakow is a Polish national. A heartbreaking situation, but notice the silence from the usual UK rage-baiters? Tommy Robinson, Nigel Farage, and Rupert Lowe won't be posting their usual "Europe has fallen, protect Europe, millions must go" rhetoric because the reality doesn't fit their narrative.

I served in Anambra State, Ekwusugo LGA to be precise. The functional banks in Anambra are located in four towns: Awka, Onitsha, Nnewi, and IHIALA. Other towns have no banks or only non-functional ones. Once you leave Onitsha, you’d barely see functional banks until you get to IHIALA. The distance from Onitsha to IHIALA is like traveling from the mainland to Island In Ekiti State, towns like Efon Alaye, Aramoko, Iyin, Oye, Ado, Ikere, etc., have functional banks. Also, banks are strategic in where they establish branches. If a location is prone to illegal activities (robbery, k!dnapping, etc) , they won’t open a branch in that location. Banks will consider opening a branch in Ekiti towns rather than in Anambra because Ekiti is 70% peaceful and easier for doing business.

I’m shocked and saddened by the appalling shooting in Kraków today. My thoughts are with the families of those who have lost their lives, everyone injured and all those affected by this senseless violence. The United Kingdom stands in solidarity with the people of Poland.

Some conversations never leave you. I for one will never forget being asked by a former member of the Coldstream Guards, in May 2017 on an early-morning walkabout of the city centre during my time as Mayor of Greater Manchester, whether I could justify him being left with no option but to bed down on cardboard and a sleeping bag on the steps of the Royal Exchange Theatre. I said no, I couldn't. But I walked away knowing he was not the only one. People who had been prepared to put their lives on the line for us now sheltering in theatre and shop doorways. I remember feeling chastened. How had my generation of politicians allowed this situation to develop without doing enough to prevent it? Most people leaving the Armed Forces go on to thrive in Civvy Street. They bring skills, discipline and experience that any employer should value. But some struggle with life after service, often through no fault of their own. Conditions caused by their time in the forces, such as PTSD, or the lack of support with the transition from one life to another, can be a root cause of homelessness. Too many are still left to face that struggle alone. When someone who has worn our nation's uniform ends up surviving on the streets, we owe them more than warm words on Remembrance Weekend. At the very least, we owe them a bed every night and support to recover. Everyone should know what help is available and where to find it. If you are a veteran facing homelessness, or know one who is, contact Op FORTITUDE, the UK-wide helpline, on 0800 952 0774 for immediate support. This is one of many government-backed veteran programmes, but I know we must do more. This Remembrance Sunday, as we honour those who have served and sacrificed for us, I want to set a new operating principle for the British state. It is simply this: no one who has served our country should be left to sleep on its streets. As part of my drive to end rough sleeping, I will be writing to councils in England this week to ask them to draw up a specific plan on veteran homelessness. As a start, I will ask them to ensure that any veteran sleeping rough is offered appropriate accommodation before Christmas. For the first time, the money is there to do it. We have provided councils with almost £900 million until the end of this Parliament to help end rough sleeping, including among veterans. We are also allocating nearly £9 million to local veterans' centres across the UK for targeted housing, employment and health support. Nearly all our councils have signed the Armed Forces Covenant. They care about our veterans and are already doing vital work with local charities to support them. Now we must go further and help councils turn that commitment into a roof over every head every night. Our veterans stood by us. We must stand by them. That means a commitment to a supported path away from the streets for everyone who needs one. From this Remembrance Sunday onwards, I want the whole country to honour that simple pledge.

It’s 2026, and supposedly educated people are still competing in the Bigotry Olympics while the political class feasts on their collective misery. Your lives aren’t improving, your leaders are getting richer, yet tribal and religious bigotry remains your priority. What a tragedy.

UK ILR update An SNP MP has written a strong letter to the home office opposing the plan to double the wait for indefinite leave to remain from 5 to 10 years. He's angry and said people have planned their jobs, homes and families around the original 5 year route. Other big charities are also fighting it, including Mencap, Barnardo's, Praxis and the Refugee Council. They're all pushing back against the changes. He's asking for proper protection for everyone already on a settlement path.

Burnham will announce EU integration deals projected to boost Britain’s economy by £17 billion. The EU will offer Britain steps towards deeper integration and options for rejoining. Over 60% of decided British voters support rejoining, while Labour leads the polls Burnham will go down in history as one of Britain’s greatest prime ministers. renaissanceeurope.org/insigh…

Immigrants are human beings with ambitions, qualifications, families, and aspirations. They are not commodities imported to serve a particular industry indefinitely. There is also a glaring contradiction in your argument. On the one hand, you suggest that migrants will become dependent on benefits after obtaining permanent residency. On the other hand, you express concern that they will leave care work for better employment opportunities. Which exactly is your objection? If someone leaves the care sector to become a solicitor, accountant, engineer, or another highly skilled professional, they are still working, paying taxes, contributing to the economy, and potentially earning more. Surely, that is something any country interested in economic growth should welcome. You cannot simultaneously complain that migrants might become economically inactive and then oppose their efforts to become more economically productive. That is not a coherent policy argument; it is a glaring double standard. If the government wishes to retain skilled care workers, it should create an environment where remaining in the sector is a desirable choice, not an imposed obligation. A fair society does not measure the worth of immigrants solely by how long they remain in the jobs they were originally recruited to perform. It also recognises their right to grow, contribute, and fulfil their potential. The real question should be: Why are we discussing how to prevent care workers from leaving instead of asking why the sector struggles to retain them in the first place? You cannot build a sustainable care system by restricting people’s ambitions. You build it by making care work a profession people are proud to choose and financially able to remain in. Retention should be earned through dignity, fair pay, and opportunity I know you are inconsequential in the scheme of things however Do unto others as you would have them do unto you
Regarding ILR, I stand by EVERYTHING I said. You don't need statistics to prove how many people leave the care sector or claim benefits once granted permanent residency….the point was, we shouldn’t even be given 1.9 million people who came here on 5 year working visas the OPTION. The country shouldn’t even take the risk if even 2% apply for benefits or leave the care sector. Just because someone took the opportunity to work here, why must Britain grant them all settled status or citizenship? The sense of entitlement is astounding. They may have been promised it before, but things change based on the economy etc Prevention is better than cure. We should not give hundreds of thousands of individuals the option to leave the very roles we desperately brought them in for, such as care work, nor provide access to welfare and social housing when public resources are already overstretched until the country is in a better position to accommodate that. People may pretend not to understand because they are driven by emotion, but opening up welfare access to nearly two million low wage workers will inevitably lead to a portion of them claiming benefits or requesting social housing. Why wouldn’t they? If people have been living in overcrowded conditions, with two or three families sharing a single property and are suddenly eligible for the housing element of Universal Credit to move into their own family home, of course they will take it. Britain simply cannot afford to take that risk right now. It is that straightforward.
