Cutting off the healthy, functional body parts of children will accurately go down as the biggest medical scandal in history. I long await the day society collectively agrees.

I'd like to thank the political class of Kansas and Missouri, regardless of affiliation, for their tireless efforts this silly season to advance the state of literacy and social interaction - far in excess of the disappointing efforts of the education class. The execrable, nay, dare I say *shitty* political ads have driven me to the printed word, on paper, eschewing television, radio, YouTube, and, well, anywhere Alphabet Inc can push targeted ads. And your thrice-damned text harrassment has caused me to turn off my phone, since you assholes aren't blockable, for all that I have endeavored to. You all suck. Body-dump bogwater. From Chernobyl.

There are two new Gaby wool scarves available in my Etsy shop. I worked it all by hand from sheep to the scarf - washed, combed, felted, and dyed with forest leaves. pecorelle.etsy.com

Denver Archbishop James Golka this week defended his participation in a prayer event with U.S. President Donald Trump at the Oval Office, citing the gathering as an opportunity to publicly pray and evangelize the faith. Golka, who was installed in the Denver Archdiocese in March after serving as the bishop of Colorado Springs for several years, led a prayer during an Oct. 22 meeting at the Oval Office between Trump and several U.S. bishops. During the gathering the archbishop in part prayed for the Holy Spirit to “surround our country, to protect us against any influence of evil.” The prayer event generated some backlash for what critics have argued was a politically motivated photo opportunity on the part of the White House. Golka this week said he “knew people might be upset” at the event and that it could be "use[d] for political purposes.” “But as I prayed about it, I thought that this is what Catholics do. We pray for people. No matter whether we agree or disagree on anything, we always pray for our country and leaders,” he said in remarks to the Denver Catholic. Golka said during the meeting he articulated Church teachings to the president. “As Catholics, we’re called to share our faith in season and out of season and to witness to the dignity of every human person,” he told the Denver Catholic. He denied that the event, including video of the prayer shared on social media, constituted an “endorsement” of the president. “That was never my intention,” he said. “The bishops of the United States teach that the Church cannot champion any candidate or party,” he said. “I hold to that. However you vote, you ultimately belong to Jesus who loves you infinitely more than you can imagine.” The archbishop said he has received criticism from friends about the decision and that he has responded by telling them: “I was being a Catholic priest.” He described himself as “heartbroken” at the anger over the event. He urged Christians to “look beyond the headlines, which are often crafted to provoke, towards the full truth.” “I will keep praying for our president, our governor and everyone who serves in public office, regardless of their party or position on divisive topics,” he said. The Archdiocese of Denver said after the event that praying for public leaders “is a long Catholic practice” that dates back to Apostolic Age. More: ewtnnews.com/world/us/denver…

Been busy today. Voted, then we drove way out to Perry, KS to Perry Mill for the Senior horse chow they make. Quite a bit less than Purina at TSC. Then we went to LeCompton, KS for lunch, at HillCreek Market. Very good food! Now on our way home.

We did a (possibly goofy) thing. For a FRACTION of what a UTV and cart cost, we got an electric ‘truck’ with a dump bed that handles up to 2000 pounds. Hubby’s mobility has become more limited, so this will also allow him to roam over the property. And haul the innumerable loads of dirt I expect to moving in the next few months/years. It seems pretty darn sturdy, has brake lights, turn signals and bluetooth radio! LOL

I forget to dream. Yesterday, Vince and I were working on installing a new axle on his truck. We had a couple of goals and we knew we kind of needed to button down and get as much done yesterday as we could. There was this point where we were both leaning on the tailgate of the truck and talking about our most ambitious dreams for engine builds. It might sound funny or strange, but all the sudden 45 minutes had passed. I don’t know where the time went but at some point early on in the talk, I realized I had to put away our need to get something done and just soak in the moment I was with one of my best friends, doing something we love to do. It was a beautiful Michigan fall day and for a while, we just dreamt. We were made to dream, I think. Our busy schedules and the cacophony of voices telling us to be angry, to panic, to be afraid… all of it compel us to forget the important things in life. We schedule our poor children to death. We are demanded of by other others, and we demand of others. We run from A to B, fulfilling imposed obligations. In all of it, we forget to dream. Scripture tells us “without a vision, people perish”. Make a decision to waste time today. You were made a human being, not a human doing. Remember to dream. #talkedtotheboss

They brought a 15-pound calf inside not knowing if he’d survive. Eventually, they had to explain to him that he wasn’t a dog and the couch wasn’t his. Zeke was born weeks early, too weak to stand or nurse. His family kept him warm and fed him around the clock. When he finally got walking, they bought him little shoes so he wouldn’t slip on the tile. Before long, he was playing with his best friend, a deaf dog, and curling up beside the woman who bottle-fed him to watch television. By 50 pounds, it was time to move outside. His family understood the arrangement was temporary. Zeke apparently hadn’t been consulted. Watch how he greets the woman who raised him when she comes home. How long would you have lasted before letting him back in?
