A huge congratulations to our #FurFreeAlliance coalition partner, @Anima_Int for 26 years of campaigning to end mink farming! Last Friday, the Danish government confirmed it will not seek an exemption from the EU prohibition on keeping and breeding mink. ⬇️

The year couldn't have started better. For the first time in history, a country will effectively stop growing chickens unnaturally fast - a horrific form of animal cruelty. A massive step forward, announced by the industry itself! Now, it's time for others to do the right thing.
🎉 Norway’s largest meat producer and the industry association KLF announced a plan to phase out fast-growing chicken breeds by the end of 2027. Norway will become the world's first country to stop raising fast-growing chickens. 🐥This is a historic victory for chickens not only in Norway but globally. Breeding fast-growing chickens is one of the biggest causes of animal suffering worldwide. 🇳🇴Anima International has worked to end this practice in Norway for the past 5 years. It’s incredible to see the results of these efforts, which will impact nearly 45 million animals per year.

Over 150,000 EU citizens have commented on the EU's consultation on new farm animal welfare legislation! This may be the 4th most responded-to EU consultation ever -- a powerful sign that EU citizens care about this issue. EU citizens: today is your last day to join them!

A big chapter of animal suffering in Poland is closing. It was an enormous effort of raising awareness about this cruelty - hundreds of thousands of Poles actively supported it over many years, thousands of donors, hundreds of advocates. Every single contribution mattered - every drop wears away the stone. If you were part of it - thank you from the bottom of my heart. Change for animals takes time, but is inevitable.
🚨 BREAKING: Poland just BANNED fur farming! After 10+ years of investigations, rescues, and speaking to politicians and the public, the President of Poland has signed the bill into law. Millions of foxes and minks will be spared from life in filthy cages. This is what persistence looks like. This is YOUR victory. 🦊💙 #FurBan #PolandFurBan

Animal welfare legislation: @EU_Commission must commit to timelines. 📢 "There is simply no room for ambiguity or delay. The Commission must take accountability and provide a clear, credible timeline for delivering the long-promised animal welfare legislation,” @ReinekeEG4A, CEO, Eurogroup for Animals. Citizens deserve transparency and certainty. Read more⤵️ eurogroupforanimals.org/news…

History is being made. In Poland, farming animals for fur is still legal (mostly minks, but also foxes and raccoon dogs). Just now, 77% of MPs in the main house of The Parliament voted for the ban on fur farming. An overwhelming majority across the political spectrum!

Important and well made video on problems of factory farming. No matter what you think about eating meat, the current absurd system serves no one. As @Kurz_Gesagt explains, we lock animals in crammed torture chambers. Companies can change it, they just need to see we do care.
Most of us love animals – but also eat meat. Unfortunately, most animals we eat live in horrible conditions, not for better meat, just for cheaper meat. Watch our latest video to see how little it takes to still eat meat but minimize animal suffering: kgs.link/meat

🐄Farmed animals are kept under welfare standards that are nearly 30 years old—but science has moved on. The @EU_Commission proposed a revision by 2023. It never happened❌ ⏳With just over a week until their new Work Program, we urge: Act now for #AnimalWelfare!

Today Trump's USDA nominee, Brooke Rollins, told Congress that she will force states to allow the sale of pork from crated pigs. States banned these sales to stop animal cruelty. The conservative Supreme Court upheld those bans. Only pork industry lobbyists want this change.

It’s very concerning when companies go back on their promises to improve animal welfare. As I told @guardian, many companies are following through on their pledges, but some - like @KFC_UKI - appear to be backtracking. theguardian.com/food/2024/no…

Changing one's mind is hard but incredibly important. It's really useful (and inspiring) to have these concrete examples of how leaders in the animal movement have changed their minds and how that’s led to greater impact
💬 We asked ten seasoned animal advocates what they changed their minds about during their time in the movement. Their insights paint the evolving landscape of animal advocacy over the past two decades. ⬇️🧵

Hundreds of millions of chickens are set to experience better lives thanks to a wave of recent commitments from the UK's biggest retailers. There's more to be done, but it's good to see the industry taking steps in the right direction. @opencages 👇 opencages.org/blog/big-chang…

Clear demonstration of how prioritisation changes depending on the way farm animals are counted. It's important to consider both 'animals slaughtered' and 'animals alive at any time', but with much farm animal welfare work the latter is more decision relevant
