NFX was the first investor in EvenUp @evenuplaw, the legal AI startup, while its category was still nameless. @AnnaPinol_, partner at @NFX, walked @guilleflorvs and me through how that bet looked at the seed stage.
▫️ It sat outside every thesis bucket. The case came from first principles: what EvenUp was doing for its customers was very valuable. In Anna's words, "everything makes sense."
▫️ About three years later it's a unicorn, and the market coined a term for it: vertical AI. The same playbook is now being rolled out in many places.
Those are her favorite investments: you back something early, and a few years later the whole industry is inventing playbooks around it.
Founders building in a category that's still waiting for its name, reply and tell me what it is.

A reporter asked Lamine Yamal how he handles the pressure of carrying Spain at 18. His answer: my mother had me when she was 16, that's real pressure. My father picked things off the street to bring food home, that's pressure. All I have to do is play football.
That's the whole story of who he is, and most fans only know the surface of it.
Before he was born, his teenage parents fell behind on rent. Two neighbors named Lamine and Yamal covered them, and his father vowed his son would carry both names forever. His legal name is a permanent record of a debt his family couldn't repay in money. In Arabic, the names mean "the trustworthy" and "beauty."
His parents split when he was around 5. His mother raised him in Granollers on a fast food wage. And here's the detail almost nobody knows: that job is the reason he became a footballer. Through work she met the daughter of the youth coordinator at CF La Torreta, his first club. When she worried she couldn't cover the fees, he told her that if the boy wants to play, money will never be the reason he can't.
As a kid, Lamine told his parents: if you're counting on me getting a normal job, we're in trouble. But if I become a footballer, you'll never have to worry again.
He signed with Barcelona at 7. He was right by 15.
Every goal, he flashes 304 with his fingers. The end of 08304, the postal code of Rocafonda, the neighborhood where strangers paid his family's rent before he existed. It gets credited on every goal since.
Today, at 19, he plays for the World Cup. And if he scores tonight, somewhere in the biggest broadcast on Earth, two neighbors will hear their names, and a postal code will flash on 2 billion screens.

Back in SF for Latitud’s new cohort. 8 pre-seed founders: all LatAm born, building globally. We’ll be meeting @rauchg at Vercel,@david__booth at a16z, @victorcardenas at Slash. Senior folks at Anthropic & OpenAI. The CTOs of Replit and NotCo. Partners at NFX, YC, Pear, CRV, Base10, Valor, Reach, Afore.
“To have a big dream requires the same effort as having a small dream. Dream big”, Jorge Paulo Lemann, 3G
We’re entering LatAm’s global founder era. Brace yourselves.
Everyone is racing to build smarter AI.
But there's a parallel race toward more human AI.
It's equally important, perhaps even more so in the long run 🧵
Think about a therapist, a negotiator, a teacher.
Their value is both knowledge and reading the room. Knowing when to push, when to hold back, what someone needs to hear.
That's the unlock. AI that doesn't just answer questions but understands the human on the other side.
What gets built when humanness becomes infinitely scalable?
We're excited to find out!

Every major tech wave invents a new pricing model.
SaaS → per-seat
APIs → usage
Mobile → surge
AI → ?
Founders are now being asked to price not just software, but work itself.
It requires new ways of thinking, new playbooks.

A year ago, my best friend @santi_racca and I set out to do something impossible at @autograph_ai. Today, we're excited to present it to the world.
Here's what some of our members have shared about the experience, and here's to the stories that make us who we are:

When I first met David, it was clear he was of those special founders who live in the future (and builds several steps ahead of the market). Since co‑leading their pre‑seed 1 year ago, his AI predictions have largely played out. Today we’re proud to double down on their seed. See why we invested below.
Thrilled to announce we’ve raised a $25M Seed round led by @creandum, @forgepointcap and with the continued support of @NFX and @villageglobal!
Our clients are already running Maisa Studio in production, executing mission-critical knowledge work across Banking, Energy, Infrastructure, and Manufacturing.
With Maisa, you onboard digital workers like mentoring an apprentice. No rigid workflow builders, boxes with arrows or prompt engineering.
Where chain-of-thought fails with unfaithful reasoning and unreliable actions, Maisa’s KPU delivers reliability and auditability you can trust.
I’m incredibly proud of our world-class team. The speed, quality of execution, effort, and dedication at the highest level.
Very excited for what is yet to come, the future is bright ✨

🚀 Big news: Maisa just raised $25M to tackle enterprise AI’s 95% failure rate!
Thrilled to be backed by @creandum , @forgepointcap (via its European JV with Banco Santander), @NFX & @villageglobal
