Well Harry and Meghan Markle didn’t care for the Royal Family when they were making millions off of them, so why should the Royal Family be expected to offer support now? Burning bridges has consequences, and it’s astonishing how quickly some people want to forget everything Harry and Meghan have said and done just because Meghan is having a difficult time with her father.
Now we’re supposed to feel sorry for her and make her the victim of this story? Whatever is happening with Thomas Markle does not rewrite history or absolve Harry and Meghan of their own actions.
Meghan’s father became largely irrelevant to her public life after she married Harry, and she still has Harry. She has the husband she chose, the life she built and the independence they fought so hard to establish. Why must the Royal Family be dragged into a situation that has absolutely nothing to do with them?
Harry and Meghan wanted independence, and they got it. Independence also means accepting that the Royal Family is not obligated to rescue them from every difficult situation, nor does it have to publicly demonstrate support to satisfy their expectations.
The King has a monarchy to serve, and William has a family and future to protect. Neither should be expected to jeopardise their own peace or responsibilities to manage the consequences of Harry and Meghan’s choices.
You cannot have it both ways. You cannot reject the family when it suits you, exploit the royal connection when it benefits you, and then expect the same family to show up on demand. If Harry and Meghan wanted to stand on their own, they should be allowed to do exactly that, without expecting the Royal Family to keep providing the emotional and public support they chose to walk away from.
