Hello. My name is Angela Paradise, mom to Owen Coyne, Marblehead Class of 2027 and Williams College Football Commit. Im so sorry to be sharing this news online. It is with profound sadness and indescribable grief that we share that Owen passed away after a sudden brain hemorrhage last week. Owen (Owie to his family, OC to his friends, teammates and coaches ) was the sweetest soul you’ll ever meet— truly a gift! Owen was a wonderful, respectful son, a doting older brother to Grady, Landon and Ella, and a beloved grandson, cousin and nephew. He surrounded himself with the very best friends and teammates a boy could have. O’s kindness, positivity, warmth and humble nature left an indelible mark on everyone he met during his brief 17-years on earth. He was a proud Captain of the MHS Football team (and he was so very pumped for this season!), a talented and much-loved sailing instructor for the Town of Marblehead, an avid boater and the very best captain of our boat, “Coyne Collection,” a valuable teammate of the MHS Varsity Baseball and Track teams, and a member of the CYC where he spent his childhood summers canon-balling into the pool. Owen loved Marblehead fiercely, and Marblehead loved him right back. A stellar student-athlete, Owen had recently announced his commitment to pursue his academic and football career at Williams College next Fall. The day we visited this campus, toured the grounds, and met the team and staff, we knew then that Owen had found his next “home.” That we will never see our Owie pursue his college dreams after working so very hard throughout high school to earn his spot at Williams is beyond heartbreaking. Owen’s passing is a devastating loss for our family, and we recognize that this is also a staggering loss for our Marblehead community. Owen, you were truly a gift — the BEST gift—to all of us— so much so that his organs went on to save 5 people! Owen, I love you with all of my heart and I will miss you every minute of every day until my time on earth is done. Words cannot convey how sorry (and gutted and angry and shattered and confused) I am that you were robbed of your beautiful life with us- and with SO much promise ahead. As your mom , I promise you that I will do my very, very best to remember you, celebrate you, talk about you and carry your legacy forward until my dying day. I love you, my sweet, beautiful Owie. ❤️🖤 marbleheadcurrent.org/2026/1…

Owen was never one to bring much attention to himself, but as his shattered mom, I want it to be known that Owen, at the age of 17, saved **5** lives by donating his organs after his passing. Months prior to his death last week, when he received his driver's license, Owen made the selfless decision to register as an organ donor. Following his passing, six of his organs were donated to save the lives of five people ranging in age from their 30s to 60s. After the transplants, one of the doctors told my husband that Owen's heart was remarkably strong—measuring "two and a half times stronger than the typical heart". Owen’s incredible final gift extended the lives of five strangers, potentially by decades! I share this info, not only as a proud mom but with the hope that Owen’s story will encourage other young people- especially young and healthy athletes, to register as organ donors. Owen was a true gift in life, and he left this world a HERO by providing the gift of life to 5 others. In the coming weeks, I will continue to share Owen’s story to raise awareness, with the goal of increasing organ donor registration rates among young people. Stay tuned… Owen, I love you, I miss you terribly, and I will not let your death be in vain! ❤️ gofund.me/1c860bfa8 #doitforOC #allforOC #organdonation #donatelife @newenglanddonorservices @owencoyne2027 @donatelifeamerica facebook.com/share/v/1CvDvx…

An Open Letter to John Henry Dear John, I am 52 years old, the same age you were when you bought the Boston Red Sox. That parallel has been on my mind lately, because at 52, you changed the trajectory of a franchise and, in a very real way, the emotional lives of millions of fans like me. My father passed away in 2021. Because of the choices you, Larry Lucchino, and Tom Werner made, he and I were able to share something we never thought we would see together: a winning Red Sox team. For most of my dad’s adult life, and for the first 30 years of mine, we lived with the assumption that the Red Sox simply did not win titles. We hoped, we joked, we endured heartbreak, but deep down we accepted that it might never happen — and if it did, it would be in an alternate dimension or something. Then it happened. It really happened. Not once, but four times. Those championships were not abstract achievements. They were nights on the couch, phone calls, laughter, disbelief, and relief. They were memories I still carry now that my father is gone. That is something no owner can ever fully measure, and something no fan should forget. For that, you deserve real thanks. When you bought the Boston Red Sox, you were a disruptor with conviction, appetite for risk, and a clear belief that bold decisions could rewrite history. You proved it. You are 76 now. Time changes all of us. I don’t mean to get overly clinical — I’m a copywriter who does a lot of work in the healthcare space — but research is clear that as we age, dopamine levels naturally decline, and with that comes a shift in how we assess risk. Fewer decisions are driven by the upside of reward. More are shaped by the fear of loss. That is human. It is understandable. But it is also visible. It is also fair to say that some of your ownership group’s old fire may be gone in the wake of Larry Lucchino’s passing. He left a real void in that department. You, Larry, and Tom Werner were a formidable force. Together, you changed baseball in Boston forever. Sadly, your recent Red Sox teams have instead felt managed to avoid mistakes, not built to chase greatness. In light of Alex Bregman’s regrettable departure for Chicago, I would like to propose that you sign Bo Bichette. Give him an eight-year, $320 million contract. Maybe that’ll do it. If he wants 10 years, give him 10 years. Give him what it takes. If the deal turns out to be an overpay, consider it a self-imposed tax for failing, in recent years, to be aggressive enough to win the way you once were. What is the real risk in a deal like that? How involved do you realistically expect to be with this team at the end of that deal, when you are 84 years old? If Bo Bichette can’t be acquired, please pursue any and all other similarly aggressive avenues to improve this baseball team. Championships are not won by protecting balance sheets. They are won by conviction. And by good baseball players. Baseball is a game of failure. Not every deal will work out. Even some of the best teams fail to win it all. But if you are concerned with your legacy, which is worse: Trying to win, but failing? Or losing interest in even trying? This is not a criticism as much as it’s a plea for clarity. Red Sox fans love the Red Sox. We always have. We always will. Do you still? Regards, Bill Colrus (AKA @SawxSouth)

Also: If you really wanna get cute, let @petemrogers design the jersey. At least we know thought and care will go into it, and it'll have some meaning to the team, city or region.
The Celtics need only these jerseys: White and Green - Home Green and White - Road Black and Green - When mixing it up If you wanna throw something in with the yellow/gold coloring once and while, fine. But whatever this year's special jersey is makes me want to puke. Ugh!

Letting an assistant coach call a timeout. That’s illegal. But we are worried about “illegal formation”.
