Nashville doesn't even have an MLB team . . .
NEW: In leaked recordings, Peter Thiel argued that Nashville should be a moral alternative to Pope Leo XIV and the Catholic Church, which he called “a dubious ally” against a hypothetical future Antichrist Democratic president. “America is the last and final form of the Roman Empire,” Thiel told a closed-door crowd in Nashville’s Masonic Temple. “There is no successor.” He has attacked Pope Leo XIV at least four times this year, once calling him “a useful idiot for the CCP.” thelettersfromleo.com/p/the-…

My fault for looking at the For You tab but man Godzilla Twitter is dumb. Post after post saying Minus One isn't fascist nonsense because it's focused on civilians not military, which I guess makes the Death Wish movies also revolutionary messages.

Finally saw You Can See Everything and it is really as intriguing and engulfing as everybody says and my only contribution to the discourse is that when they were watching The Dropout my son leaned over and said "I think that's the sword from Highlander."

Spider-Man and Transformers seemed to be the most popular costumes tonight but I noticed that a solid majority of the older kids (around age 10 or so) had on Digger costumes, for what that's worth.

I don't know if they were scripted lines or if it was the women left to their own devices but Mone, Persephone and Baker all spent time calling the rest of the division trash, not on their level, etc. They're right (not Baker), but it still seems counterproductive to say it.

Finally watched this old IWRG show @RobViper put on youtube a couple months ago and the Avisman vs. Raul Guerrero Jr. match that opens this part 2 video is maybe the most IWRG match ever (a good thing? I don't know. It is a thing.) youtu.be/Gp-sqeD1mz8?si=Odnb…

I really liked that Vision comic. I was already reading Batman at the same time and interested to see what he would do but got bored of it like 3 or 4 issues in to his run. This was all before I had ever heard about his war crimes past.
Do people authentically dislike Tom King's writing or is it the usual thing that goes on here where people dislike him for political reasons and then search for aesthetic reasons to justify their opinions?

First they convince you the Patterson-Gimlin Sasquatch footage is fake, then they convince you freedom of speech is fake, then they convince you voting is fake. It's such an obvious playbook and Americans are eagerly falling for it.

Probably going to finish The Tunnel today and everybody is going to come over and tell me they're proud of me.

I always like when Economics professors confirm what we already knew about Economics students/majors.
Johns Hopkins economics professor Steve Hanke writes in a WSJ letter to editor that many of his students don't know where the campus library is:

It's fine, though. It's cool. Everything is fine.

Tired of auteur directors making concert movies they need to start filming indy lucha matches instead. Get Alex Ross Perry down to Foro Urbano.

Who has disrespected the sanctity, the profundity, of Gary Numan's Professor X chair?????
We need to talk about NYC rep audiences and laughter. Last night I saw a very special 35mm print of Urgh! A Music War. And when Gary Numan came out in his tiny joystick-controlled car... people were just... 𝘤𝘢𝘤𝘬𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨?

I've no problem with a tweet "escaping containment." I like it when my cretinous utterings interrupt tranquility around the world. ("Escaping containment" is like 4 RTs, for me)

I dont think all criticisms of Digger are the result of the critics' upper-class/trust fund background and choice of signifying over actual activism being directly attacked by the film, but I do think its funny that this seems to fit every criticical review of Digger.

Reading the AV Club review of Digger and this didn't happen? Maybe they mean Jesse Plemons saves a different day, but that is exactly the nihilistic point of the movie. A rich guy did something nice for other rich people. Bizarre misreading of a not subtle point.

Read another Digger review that just makes shit up. The replacement of art criticism with fandom is one of the worst aspects of the 21st Century.

This review in The Ringer isn't as bad as others, but as I was reading all I could think was "you insist on movies being 'entertaining,' which is only one potentiality of art." Then I got to the final line and had to laugh. At least they are more honest.
