Schitt’s Creek inspired Tuckertown: a small town where queer people simply belong. 🌈 Then we filled it with colorful characters who seemed to have countless stories of their own. I’d love to return someday, in another Maxxie film or even a series. A filmmaker can dream! ✨

If my small-town school had offered theater, I’d have been one of those theater gays. Seeing Jinkx Monsoon in “Oh, Mary!” was a joy. 🎭 Apparently Maxxie’s alien wig shares the dream. Today: “Memory” from Cats. Tomorrow: a role alongside Jinkx? A wig can dream! 👽💅

I absolutely love seeing Jae and Claire get their pound cake on in this one! 😂 They’re two of the toughest women in Maxxie LaWow, so of course they can turn the Pink Unicorn Cafe into their own music video. This whole parody was such stupid fun to make! 😂🎂

At the heart of Maxxie LaWow is a simple idea: You don’t need superpowers to be a SHERO. You need the courage to be yourself, the kindness to lift others up, & the confidence to let your own light shine. That’s the message I hoped to share when we made this film. 💖✨

One of my favorite ideas at the heart of Maxxie LaWow is that Maxxie isn’t someone Simon turns into. She’s a part of him that has been there all along, waiting to come out & shine. I love seeing that idea captured in one little sweep of the hand. ✨ Release YOUR inner shero. 💖

I freaking LOVE the Punkey Doodles version of this meme, so seeing Maxxie and Dyna step into these roles makes me ridiculously happy. 😂 Of course these two would turn an epic wizard confrontation into a drag queen shade battle. LOL @punkeydoodles8

Jae was inspired in part by my childhood best friend, Buffy. We were inseparable as kids, lost touch, then found our way back as adults. We still text and make time to see each other. Some friendships really do last. 💖 #MaxxieLaWow #ChosenFamily

Some people accept compliments gracefully. Others apparently need to be grabbed by the shoulders & informed, YOU ARE WONDERFUL. NOW BELIEVE IT. 😂💖 Honestly, I support this approach. Sometimes the people we love need a gentle reminder. Or a full-scale positivity intervention.😸

Laraine Newman is every bit as funny, warm & gracious as you'd hope. 💜 Watching her bring Claire to life in the recording booth was pure magic. She found the perfect balance of sass, heart & humor, and I couldn't imagine anyone else. We all deserve a Grandma Claire in our lives.

Rosé had only a few lines as the Cop & Legendary Queen in Maxxie LaWow, but gave us EVERYTHING. Two distinct voices, fearless comic timing, and so many hilarious ad-libs that several made the final film. A brilliant actor & an absolute joy to direct. 💖🎙️ #SameActorBTW #Rosé

I've seen Jinkx & DeLa perform together in SF several times, including Drag Becomes Her with Peaches Christ. It's surreal to go from being in the audience laughing... to directing them in my own animated film. They're every bit as funny, talented, and generous as you'd hope.

One of the joys of making Maxxie LaWow was watching our cast make these characters their own. Rosé had an absolute blast voicing Legendary Queen, and so many of her improvised lines were just too good not to keep. I hope she makes you smile as much as she makes me. #MaxxieLaWow

One of the themes of Maxxie LaWow is embracing your authentic self... even when things don't go exactly as planned. So naturally, Legendary Queen had to put her own spin on this iconic viral moment, inspired by the fabulous Kyran Thrax (from Drag Race UK 6). 👑💖
