Ya know we are just beating ourselves.
We had a really physical and emotional game last week to knock off Georgia.
LSU winning is just a fluke.
(If you read this without the slightest hint of sarcasm 😑)

If you are rational you know that it is very unlikely that the most decisive moment of human history is unfolding before your eyes. This being said, it really looks like it.
Godspeed everyone. To the stars!

VCs don't fund ideas. They fund stories about ideas. The best founders aren't pitching what the company does. They're pitching what the world looks like when it works.

A fun thing to do when you need to wait around for a few minutes is to use your phone to ask Claude Opus the following question about some random discipline or field:
“What would you say is THE core insight or analytical trick of crystallography?”
Replace crystallography with anything you can think of. So far, I’ve tried:
QED; the Standard Model; Biochemistry; Probability; Evolutionary theory; and many more.
There’s something about forcing the model to do the impossible, to condense a vast, complex field into “one weird trick,” that makes it really search for the best deep, unifying principle in the field and then articulate it succinctly.
This tends to be something that is obvious to practitioners but very likely to be unknown by most people with just a passing interest in the subject.
Interestingly, you can also repeatedly press the “retry” button with the same prompt and sometimes get very different, but usually very fascinating, explanations.
I’ve already learned a LOT from doing this, and it might just be the highest “understanding per minute” I’ve encountered in any self-directed learning.
Because they aren’t just fun facts or cool tidbits. They’re, by construction, penetrating and unifying ideas that tie together a vast amount of theory and observed phenomena in the world.
It’s certainly a lot more high-bandwidth than watching yet another YouTube explainer video with animations and ads for Brilliant/KiwiCo! Not that there’s anything wrong with those.

Both true: (A) If you outsource homework to AI you will learn less & (B) If you use AI as a tutor as part of instruction, you can learn more
Whenever a paper showing (A) comes out, X talk is about AI destroying our brain. When a (B) paper, it is all about AI killing school. Sigh

It's worth exploring when the internet cast new doubt on provenance of college essays, and what colleges did and didn't do in response...
.@TheGuardian, 2000: "Is this a student's work I see before me - or just a ready-made, paid-for download from the internet?
It's a question starting to bother lecturers and one that won't go away."

The president of the National Academy of Sciences, Marcia McNutt, has published welcome an essay promising to remain politically neutral and mitigate the political polarization of science.
Some notable quotes from the article:
"[S]cientists need to better explain the norms and values of science to reinforce the notion—with the public and their elected representatives—that science, at its most basic, is apolitical... Whether conservative or liberal, citizens ignore the nature of reality at their peril."
"Scientists should better explain the scientific process and what makes it so trustworthy, while more candidly acknowledging that science can only provide the best available evidence and cannot dictate what people should value."
"[T]he National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine need to examine how scientists may have contributed to the polarization of the use of science... [Scientists] must avoid the tendency to imply that science dictates policy."
"The public and policy-makers can discuss and debate how to respond to the myriad challenges that confront society, but these deliberations need to be informed by the objective, dispassionate evidence that only science can provide. To that end, the NAS stands ready, as it always has, to advise the incoming administration."

I don’t really give a shit if you believe me or not but I’ve covered seven national championship games, idk how many SEC Championships, Games of the Century etc. Auburn at home with a lead entering the 4th Q of an Iron Bowl is the most intimidating environment in sports.

It became difficult to take screenshots of long chats with @OpenAI ChatGPT, so I wrote an extension that adds the much-needed "Generate PNG" and "Export PDF" buttons inside the platform itself.
And all the code was written using ChatGPT! 🚀
