Hello all aboard @TopTweetTuesday for today's mission. I couldn't think of the big words today. I feel stupid when it comes to grappling with the cosmos. Today was our bin-day, so I started thinking about that and the unfathomability of the universe, and... please read it aloud!

Hiya @MatthewMCSmith & all on @TopTweetTuesday today. For me the impulse to write poetry is often a call to the prophetic or something similar - to speak from, for & into the hurting world. Here's the close of what I think of as my my manifesto poem - a kind of Ars Poetica ✍️

Hi there @MatthewMCSmith & all on @TopTweetTuesday today. I'm swooping in a bit late with my imagist poem on sea/land/air, inspired by my recent trip to the rugged old Llyn Peninsula. Ticked all the boxes, I think, & managed to bend its form into a suitable shape, too! 😎 #poetry

Mornin' @MatthewMCSmith and all on @TopTweetTuesday today. Great to be back after a bit of a break. My homage is to that maestro of imagism... T.S. Eliot. An extract from my centenary response to The Wasteland set in 2020s Birmingham. Msg me if you're interested in the book 😎

We did ar, day we bab. We onny went an brung it gud n proppa! Seriously, Dr Rob, it was an utter joy to share 25 pieces (18 poems and 7 songs) in 59 minutes flat. Our audience really appreciated the time and space to listen and reflect. Job done, mate! 🤜🤛

If you're anywhere near #Southport and you fancy some #poetry on a Saturday night, come along to this at @the_grasshopper , tomorrow (31st) 7pm kick-off. Deets on pic below. Me and Jay Rafferty are performing our stuff, plus there's an open mic ✌️😎 #merseyside #poetrylovers

This is lovely, Marcelle. Happy New Year. I hope the speaker of the poem finds their fluttering moth! ❤️

Hello there, @MatthewMCSmith and all around on @TopTweetTuesday today. I love bird poems and write quite a lot of them. Here's a little one I wrote a while back whilst in Co. Antrim. It's a busy one today, so I'll be back this evening to read everyone's poems. 😎

Looking forward to this one. It'll be a pleasure to read alongside @RMFrancis and @CpwWlv students.

If you can be in Wolverhampton on Sat 29th Nov, come and hear me and Rob read poems from our latest books - Wolves Uni, 2:30pm - it's free, but do sign up on Eventbrite so we know you're coming!😎

On Sunday 8th February '26, I will be curating & hosting an event at Wolverhampton Literature Festival: "Out of Darkness Cometh Light: a journey in poetry and song." I'll be joined by fellow poet Rob Francis, & musicians Susy Wall & my son Joe Yates. Book a ticket & join us.😎

⁩ Hi @MatthewMCSmith & the @TopTweetTuesday crew. I've been a bit busy today, so my offering is a bit of a late arrival. You asked for #anarchy. So, make what you will of this free-verse, free-form chaos! 🤪 #poetry #poetrylovers #writingcommunity

Great to be sharing with University of Wolverhampton's Creative Writing students today. @CpwWlv @wlv_uni @RMFrancis @Kerry2001 @CrabbeToby

Hi @MatthewMCSmith and the @TopTweetTuesday crew. I'm loving these bright mornings since the clocks went back☀️. This came to me on this morning's run. I've gone with the supernatural power of light, rather than darkness. It's just under 60 words with all the required bits😊

If you can be in Wolverhampton on Sat 29th Nov, do come along to this. I will be reading from "This Wilderness & Other Concerns" alongside fellow Black Country poet, Rob Francis. It's free - just book your place through the Eventbrite link below. We'd love to see you there❤️
