I am English but grew up in LA and played baseball until 11. I then moved back the UK and played cricket to county level. There is no point of comparing. Both are incredibly difficult and so unbelievably different. At the top level all are elite athletes with elite hand eye. We are talking about the 1%. One thing I would say is if you chose one player from each sport at the top of their game, say Harry Brook and PCA, I believe that Harry Brook could become an elite baseball player faster than PCA becoming an elite cricketer purely because of the nuance of the sport. Baseball is a more “basic” sport in many ways.

Football is a wonderful sport we all love. Football is 3 things for me. Winning, entertainment and being part of a community. Too many people are transfixed with how you win. The feeling I get walking away from Stamford Bridge with 3 points will ALWAYS supersede how we played. I have seen it all. From Hoddle, Vialli, Gullit, Mourinho, Ranieri, Conte, Tuchel, Potter, Lampard, Ancellotti to name a few. The one thing I had in common with all of them, was the feeling I had after a win. Yes, I want to be entertained, of course I want to see pretty patterns of play and watch amazing goals. After all, football is theatre, but that takes time. For some managers it’s lands quicker than others, some are fortunate that they have the right players at the right time. Some get bought those players and it works and for some, it never materialises. What I want at Chelsea now is long term stability. I want a manager who represents the club and understands the importance of winning. I want a manager who has a long term objective and I believe we have that in Alonso. I totally get why people are still pissed off post Spurs. It was a car crash, but it’s also a car crash where we all got out of the car with no major injuries. We are 5th, the players are still learning and the season is young. If Alonso is playing shit football at the end of the season then we can talk, but until then, we sadly just have to expect a bit of a rollercoaster. The ride might even out soon or we might be in for more bumpy turns but it’s about the end goal. Mentality change (still hasn’t happened but getting better) and creating a winning machine. With whatever style is required. Please give Alonso time. We are lucky to have him after the shit show of the last 4 years!

The guy who currently manages the biggest club in the world 🤣. I am not saying I want Jose back but you are speaking like he has retired yet he is still top 3 managers in the world. You want football a certain way, that’s fine, you loved Maresca football. Some found it predictable and boring. It’s about finding a balance. I know this weekends result was awful and clearly you are still angry about it but come on. Judge him at the end of the season. I don’t know why we are even discussing this 8 games in. Iraola didn’t win a match in his first 9 games at Bournemouth, Pep’s city were not the City we knew after 8 games, Klopp’s Liverpool were awful and conceded endless goals to start with. It will come.

Football can be played in many ways. Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea weren’t renowned for having loads of possession and winning in a specific way. We found a way to win. That was the MOST inportant thing for him. It wasn’t built around anything other than having a very solid defence. It was pragmatic. I have never been happier as a Chelsea fan. This notion that we have to control games and have X amount of possession is a new age thing built around amateur football tacticians online. Football is about 2 things. Winning and being entertained. Sometimes you get both combined, sometimes you just take the wins. Ultimately, he is 10 games into his tenure and the football he wants to play will show itself overtime. At this moment in time, it’s about finding a way to win whilst gradually putting the pieces together. He is a very astute manager who is finding his way, just like De Zerbi did last season. He had 8 games to find a way to win. He is now implementing his style having overhauled his entire squad and taking 6 games to do so. Football is way more nuanced than possession. It’s nice and we want control of games, but we are talking about an elite manager who has been here for 3 months. Cesc took 2.5 years, Klopp and even Pep took a year. Give him time.

The truth is this season was always going to be a rollercoaster. Losing to Spurs makes the defeat worse but the season has barely started. Long way to go.

I have been going to SB for over 30 years. I tell you where I air my frustrations, in my head, to my friends in the pub after, on twitter. Wherever. What I wouldn’t do is scream at a player telling them not to clap. The fan has waited until most people have left just to shout shit at players. It’s pathetic

Shouting abuse wearing a bin bag. What a hard bastard. He should probably stay off the beers and go to therapy.

No, you are being too supportive of a grown man having a go at our player for clapping him wearing a bin bag. It’s a football match. We lost. We were all pissed off and angry but to have a go at a player when all they are doing is clapping is laughable. He is literally saying to Colwill “don’t fucking clap” what’s he supposed to do? He could have just walked off the pitch into the changing room. People think they can behave how they like at football. Wouldn’t do that in any other situation in life.

So players are just supposed to take abuse after they lose? This isn’t a zoo. He went around the whole stadium and clapped the fans. The fan was going to be cross at anything he did because his head was gone. He should leave the stadium, take a deep breath and go and count to 10. He is a grown up, behave like one.
