Happy Anniversary, Tales of the Tempest Release date: October 26, 2006 Platforms: DS The game follows Caius Qualls, a Leymon—a race of werewolf-like shapeshifters persecuted due to the disastrous past use of their advanced technology—who also possesses human blood. After his guardian and parents are taken prisoner by ecclesiastical authorities, he embarks on a mission alongside other outcasts to rescue them and overthrow the church’s oppressive regime. The game’s genre-defining subtitle is *Tamashii o yobisamasu RPG* (魂を呼び覚ますRPG, "an RPG that awakens the soul"). *Tempest* was developed by Dimps, in collaboration with staff from Namco Tales Studio—including composer Motoi Sakuraba, designers Mutsumi Inomata and Daigo Okumura, and producer Makoto Yoshizumi. As the first title in the series developed for the DS, the concept behind the game was to create a compact *Tales* experience for that platform. Yoshizumi opted to delay the game twice prior to its release in order to refine the experience. Upon its launch, the game drew mixed reactions from both Japanese and Western critics; *Famitsu Weekly*, in particular, gave it a notably harsh review. While some praised the game’s story and gameplay, others criticized these elements, as well as aspects such as its technical quality and short duration.

Happy Anniversary, Tales of the World: Reve Unitia Release Date: October 23, 2014 Platforms: 3DS The game takes place in a dream world known as Revalia, which is fueled by the dreams of its inhabitants. The Rufres tribe maintains the world's balance by fighting against the Vuul—manifestations of darkness that dwell within the hearts of Revalia’s inhabitants. Typically, individuals known as "Dreamcatchers" combat these Vuul, but they have mysteriously vanished. In desperation, the Rufres decide to summon people—referred to as "Awakened Dreamers"—from what is known as the "Awakened World" to fight the Vuul. Consequently, characters from various entries in the *Tales* series appear—with no recollection of their own worlds—to battle the Vuul. The game's narrative is presented through the perspectives of Terun, a member of the Rufres tribe, and Nahato, a Dreamcatcher.
