Etihad threatening to sue. UAE reportedly intimating that UK investment could be pulled. A Prime Minister couching any criticisism. If this sorry saga doesn't convince you that state ownership of football clubs should never be allowed, nothing ever will.

Sunderland spent 8 YEARS in the Championship. One season back in the Premier League and they’re already playing in Europe. Brighton are in Europe. Bournemouth are in Europe — a club that was practically on its knees when Eddie Howe took over. Crystal Palace are in Europe AGAIN after beating Manchester City in the FA Cup final. And somehow we’re still being told the Premier League is a “closed shop”? 😂 Look at what’s happening: Brighton went 2-0 down to Man United in the Carabao Cup and came back to win 3-2. Three days later, they absolutely dismantled Arsenal. Brentford put three past Chelsea that same weekend. Hull came up from the Championship and have already beaten United and taken a point at Stamford Bridge. They’re sitting 8th. Where exactly is this “no chance for smaller clubs” argument coming from? And I genuinely don't understand the “red cartel” argument either. Arsenal waited 22 years for another league title. Liverpool have won two league titles in roughly four decades. United haven't won the Premier League in 13 years. So what exactly is PSR supposedly protecting these clubs from? 😂 Trophies? Because over the last decade, the clubs collecting the most silverware have been Manchester City and Chelsea — the same clubs at the centre of major financial-rule controversies. Yet somehow we're supposed to believe the problem is everyone else. At some point, you have to take responsibility. “We had no choice.” Yes, you did. Brighton had the same choice. So did Brentford. So did Bournemouth. They built gradually, developed players, recruited intelligently and stayed within the framework. And now they're competing at the top end of English football. Maybe the problem isn't that the door is closed. Maybe some clubs simply don't like the fact that everyone has to walk through the same door now. 😭 PSR hasn't stopped competition. If anything, look at the clubs breaking through and tell me the competition is dead. The excuses need to stop. 😤

Not that I think it is the driver or correct, but a far more plausible explanation of City's plan to buy 3-5 €100m players in the next 10 days is that they have now received a positive outcome notified on 115.

Even in FIFA career mode, a financial takeover cheat only lets you add £500million!

They actually tried that briefly when they were charged. They wanted to be able to pick the arbitrators themselves, like they did at CAS. The issue is they had voted for the appointment of Rosen to that role themselves.
Murray Rosen KC, a member of Arsenal FC, selected the three-person independent Commission that heard Manchester City’s case. Given the magnitude of these proceedings, #ManCity have every right to scrutinise the panel and question whether the process meets the highest standards of independence and impartiality.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Murray Rosen KC was appointed Chair of the PL Judicial Panel by member clubs including Man City in 2020. He selects commissions under the rules. City later unsuccessfully challenged his role over Arsenal membership. 4newsquare.com/murray-rosen-q… premierleague.com/en/about/gover…

Cant wait for this duo
Heaven and Yoro together would be the youngest CB partnership Manchester United have ever had. Combined age of 39 that is just nuts for CB duo. Both have such good chemistry together. this partnership will bear so much fruition.

João Gomes needs to get his head out of his arse. You got yourself a stupid yellow card and now you're playing like the red mist has descended. Demonstrate some bloody composure and temperament for Christ's sake. Very close to a second yellow. #avfc

Newcastle Utd fans protest in their thousands at the signing of Alan Shearer, a British transfer record. Toon fans were furious over their club's attempts to "buy" the Premier League title. Newcastle outspent their rivals in 96, 97 and 98 but failed miserably to win the league.
Finally starting to see push back on the financial fair play regulations from other clubs fans. It’s purely there to protect the 6 that spent crazily before they had the rules changed. It’s so obvious and it’ll end the league eventually imo. #nufc
