Announcing tradeeverything.xyz which I’d love feedback on as we plan to go live on Monday. Trade perps on major stocks like SPCX, NVDA, META, SKHY, SDNK and more @ up to 500X leverage against a user-loss funded LP smart contract. Price oracle provided by @PythNetwork and built on the HyperEVM chain with 20% of the EVERYTHING tokens going to holders of $PAPER. Users can also sell options via Promise Orders and collect premium. When I saw PaperTrade.xyz it was impressive how novel, pristine and effective the system design was in terms of bootstrapping both the initial liquidity and user base that every new exchange so badly needs and most never get and thus never get to critical mass. Its mechanism enables 1000x on BTC and ETH but can also be applied to 200+ stocks for enabling much more liquidity in these RWA perps than exists on major perp exchanges today, albeit with a payout asymmetry that may deter some sharp traders and arbitrageurs, but should be highly compelling to pure directional leveraged users. I’ve started several exchanges over my 14 years in crypto and most require large amounts of VC capital + a meaningful team to operate and are subject to attacks from all sides. This LP and leverage model enables a hyper-focused approach purely on a product users love and communicating that product to the audience. We also wanted to reward PAPER holders with 20% of the loss-earned token supply, giving them a chance to participate in the build out of the ecosystem PaperTrade has created. We will funnel our BTC and ETH perp volumes through PaperTrade.xyz as well once Builder Codes are released. Would love your thoughts and feedback on this concept. Check out the docs docs.tradeeverything.xyz/ and try the demo. Our transferability plans are here: docs.tradeeverything.xyz/tra… - again feedback appreciated.
Try out tradeeverything.xyz and give us feedback! Going live October 26th @ 13:30 UTC. - Trade stock perps @ up to 500x leverage vs a user-loss funded LP - Earn EVERYTHING for losing trades - Earn for your $PAPER holdings (20% supply to PAPER holders) - @PythNetwork as the on chain oracle for equities pricing - Built on HyperEVM and @papertrade_xyz

I'm reminded of the 1977 hit by the Flat Rates, Same Fucking Bill.
This Hoover Institution study, which has fueled the deluge of ads (more than $200 million spent by billionaires so far) to defeat the California billionaire tax, is spectacularly misleading. Let me explain its crucial flaw. 🧵
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Zucman argues that the tax will raise his projected revenue because billionaires who leave CA after 1/1/26 will be taxed anyway. At least $542B of net worth (Page, Brin, Thiel) departed the state by 12/31/25. The entire thread is a misleading denial of this fact. ft.com/content/d66976… nytimes.com/2026/04/27/us/… forbes.com/sites/forbeswe…

"Every billionaire who lived in the state as of Jan 1 2026 will get kicked in the balls once. So there's no incentive for them to move, since they'll get kicked once anyway. Why would they be irrational enough to move to avoid future kicks?"

Makes complete sense, it's trivial to insert a backdoor that triggers malicious behavior in certain environments, ala Stuxnet. And currently we have no way to know from looking at the weights whether such a backdoor exist. This is a problem, and it's closely related to alignment.
The Department of Homeland Security is requiring all civilian federal agencies to remove DeepSeek products and 'any third-party services developed using DeepSeek implementations,' and to stop buying them.

To argue against myself, @OwainEvans_UK research does suggest that if you do this kind of things you get somewhat unexpected correlates in broad behavior.

Great that the UK has applied the hugely successful model of the equal pay regime to the rental sector. Who needs markets to set prices when you have judges?

An interesting (and necessary?) direction in AI safety is building trustworthy AI systems by design, rather than relying entirely on training them to behave. Separating learned reasoning from verifiable knowledge seems like a good step towards that, and I'm excited to see what the team at Metis is building.
I am delighted to announce the launch of Metis Reasoning, a new AI company I have founded with a team of researchers, mathematicians, robotics experts and entrepreneurs. We are pursuing a different approach to general and embodied AI reasoning: developing systems that can establish what they know, test conclusions against evidence and learn to reason more effectively through experience. Alongside today's launch, we are publishing The Age of Reasoning, a white paper setting out the research foundations of our approach and what we believe the next generation of AI could look like. I will also be discussing these ideas @NVIDIAGTC in Berlin today, alongside researchers exploring new approaches to AI.

Quadrotor drones became popular because they had far simpler mechanisms than helicopters, even though they required sophisticated electronic control to remain stable. But paradoxically, they arrived as we began learning to design ever more powerful tiny chips and incredible control algorithms. As the cost of developing complex software goes to 0, physics wins, and designs that save just a little energy or mechanical complexity at the expense of huge control complexity become attractive. The same goes for commercial airplanes. They are largely designed for passive stability. The wings, for example, tip slightly up, so if the plane rolls a bit to the left, it tends to sideslip toward the lowered wing, which, thanks to the upward angle of the wings, generates a restoring rolling force. It's an elegant mechanism, but one that constrains the aerodynamic design. More importantly, airplanes are generally designed to be stable in pitch, which often requires the tail to generate downward lift, at the expense of extra drag. If perfectly controlling a plane costs nothing, it's worth optimizing. Likewise, forward-swept wings can offer aerodynamic advantages, at the cost of reduced yaw stability, but if you can control a plane very well, why not? This, of course, already exists in fighter jets, some of which are deliberately designed to be unstable, so they can change orientation more rapidly, with computers constantly keeping them under control. Anyway, HT to @chiaolun for sending me this video. A clever mechanism for a mono-rotor drone. youtube.com/watch?v=Ndftcft6…

Quand on glorifie le vol officialisé, quand on le justifie en décrivant la propriété comme une injustice, ce n'est pas surprenant que si nombreux soient décomplexés autour du vol désorganisé.

In a cruel twist of irony, the French left applies the labor theory of value to policies passed in response to large-scale protests. The policies are often presented as worth defending because they fought so hard for them. This is the concept of "acquis sociaux": policies that keep people in poverty but are presented as valuable assets because they were paid dearly for.

obviously AI can’t be conscious. it isn’t even wet. every conscious thing we’ve observed has been wet. some weirdos will lie to you and tell you AI is wet, but their water-usage statistics are bogus.
