Congratulations, dear Dapo!
A wonderful development and, dare I say, even better news for the fight to defend the international rule of law.
I am deeply honoured to be elected to the International Court of Justice.
I am grateful for the support and faith states have put in me to serve the @CIJ_ICJ. I look forward to serving the Court with independence and integrity alongside colleagues elected today.

For the first time, the Canadian government has explicitly defined anti-Zionism as a form of antisemitism. This is an appalling capitulation to pro-Israel actors like CIJA and anti-Palestinian racism.
Zionism forms the ideological backbone of Israel's state-sanctioned violence against Palestinians. Our government quietly redefining it as a form of bigoted hate against Jews as a group is both offensive and inaccurate, and it endangers all Canadians' right to freedom of expression.
We call for an immediate retraction, acknowledgement of the incredible harm this mischaracterization does to Palestinian and Jewish communities, and a recognition of anti-Zionism as a legitimate political viewpoint grounded in social justice.

If the Trump wants states to leave the Court, those who care about the institutions' success should organize a membership drive and push for more to join it.

This is categorically untrue.
The allegations against #ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan have exactly nothing to do with the credible and independently investigated cases that led to warrants against Netanyahu and Gallant.
The evidence of their atrocities speaks for itself.
Tomorrow, ICC member states will vote on whether to remove Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan over allegations of sexual misconduct.
Media reports indicate that after learning of the allegations, Mr. Khan bypassed normal procedures and rushed to seek arrest warrants against Israeli leaders to deflect attention from his own vile behaviour.
These developments raise serious questions about the credibility of those warrants, which have been used in Canada to influence policy and fuel anti-Israel rhetoric. The longer Mr. Khan remains in position, the greater the damage to the ICC's credibility.
The Government of Canada should vote for Mr. Khan's removal and take a hard look at how the ICC is being politicized by bad actors.

Two things, both false:
❌ The ICC issued or rushed warrants for Netanyahu and Gallant because of sexual harassment allegations faced by the Karim Khan.
❌ The allegations against Khan were an Israeli or American conspiracy to remove him.
Please, don’t spread misinformation.

The ICC's work on Palestine does not depend on any single office holder. This is a crucial pt & the media conflation between Khan personally, & justice in Gaza must be disentangled. Please read the petition & sign if you agree: 4genderjustice.org/feminist-…

Don't fall for the latest sophistry from the supporters of International Criminal Court prosecutor Karim Khan as he tries to evade charges of sexually preying on a junior employee, Sarah:
1. Trump's outrageous attacks on the court have nothing to do with the effort to hold Khan accountable for alleged sexual misconduct. Trump wrongly wants to protect Israeli and American offenders. But no one should get away with the serious misconduct that Sarah has described.
2. The effort to hold Khan accountable for his alleged misconduct has nothing to do with the "independence" of the court or the prosecutor. Independence does not include the power to sexually prey on employees.

Exclusive: the woman who accuses the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court Karim Khan of sexual misconduct is going public for the first time.
Khan denies all her allegations, and after a lengthy UN investigation and conflicting conclusions from different bodies, she sat down with me for an exclusive interview about what she says happened and how it’s impacted her.
Many have tried to tie her allegations to attempts to discredit the ICC’s arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former defense minister Yoav Gallant. She denies any such motive.
Her name is Sarah, she works at the International Criminal Court, and now she’s speaking out in public for the first time to give her side of the story.

That the US and Israel want to destroy the ICC is every reason you need to actively resist them and urgently defend the Court.
Perpetrators of atrocities always want to harm those who can hold them responsible.
“We will dismantle the ICC - brick by brick, if necessary”
Thank you, Secretary of State @marcorubio, for saying what many have known for years: the ICC has become a political weapon against democracies fighting terrorism, not a court delivering justice.
