February 18th 2020, Mars briefly ducked behind our moon. Here is my capture of the moment it reappeared, as the clouds finally parted. The weather nearly made me miss this event, yet added such incredible drama to the composition. #astrophotography #space #opteam

This version of the image from Parker Solar Probe has been processed to increase contrast and remove excess brightness from scattered sunlight, revealing fine detail in comet #NEOWISE’s two tails: the dust tail (lower) and the ion tail (upper).

I'm not normally one for hyperbole, but that is one seriously hyperbolic hyperbola! It seems increasingly implausible now that C/2019 Q4 (Borisov) can be anything but an interstellar comet. Just wow... (📷: ssd.jpl.nasa.gov/sbdb.cgi?ss…)

This is pretty fantastic! Two comets - C/2018 N2 (ASASSN) and 260P/McNaught - moving through the same beautiful field of view a couple of nights ago. Wow! 😍 Much kudos to Thomas Lehmann (Weimar, Germany) who recorded this image from a stack of 108 x 2-minute exposures.

Alberio, one of the most famous & beautiful double stars in the sky, has been exposed as a fake (optical) double. @ESAGaia reveals the two stars are 60 light years apart, just coincidentally lined up. (HT: @rdrimmel @galaxy_map)

In non-#aas231 space news: Saturn's rings look so young -- at least to the @CassiniSaturn spacecraft -- that the dinosaurs would have seen a ringless planet. If they had telescopes. And cared. news.nationalgeographic.com/…
