Margaret Hamilton was a pioneer whose work helped make Apollo and humanity’s first journeys to the Moon possible. The best way to honor her legacy is to finally pick up where her generation left off and never stop going.
We’ve lost an icon. Margaret Hamilton, a computer science pioneer best known for her work at MIT leading development of the flight software for the Apollo missions to the moon, has died at 90. Read about her legacy via MIT News: news.mit.edu/2026/margaret-h…

The Roman team has been busy! Last week, they tested out the fine-guidance system, which keeps the observatory locked onto targets. Its current stability is like focusing a laser beam on a U.S. dime from ~150 miles away! They're working to improve this even further. go.nasa.gov/3VYEq4w 1/2

Uranus, its rings, and its moons this morning, captured under excellent conditions with the 24in scope. By far my best capture of the epsilon ring to date. 1hr of data with IR720nm longpass filter.

Sometimes your eyes need a minute to focus when you wake up. Roman's Wide Field Instrument just woke up for the first time EVER, and scientists have started adjusting its "eyes" so they can focus on the bigger picture. Check out its first test image below go.nasa.gov/4j51w30

A dying star left behind a cosmic roar 🦁 @NASAWebb’s images of nebula NGC 2392 reveal intricate shells of gas and dust shaped by a central white dwarf star. In about 10,000 years, it will disperse into space, but first, Webb caught the fleeting moment. go.nasa.gov/4d2WKiy

BOOM! I happened to be shooting this galaxy when a star decided to explode. Pretty lucky! You can see it appear close to the galactic core. I’ll be shooting it every night for a while to watch it change brightness! This is comparing photos captured 10 days ago vs 5 min ago.

Yesterday morning, @NOAA’s #GOESEast (#GOES19) 🛰️ captured the launch of NASA’s Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope (@NASARoman) from @NASAKennedy in Florida. This enhanced-color imagery combines several wavelengths of light to highlight various features on Earth, including fire hotspots—making the heat from the rocket appear as a bright red hotspot as it lifted off.
